Thanks Dr. Fessel. We are in agreement that slash-and-burn is the wrong way to go. But we have to acknowledge that the infrastructure of science is less resilient than science itself. We have the opportunity, now it’s been laid so bare, to correct that longstanding imbalance. We should take it.

Hey Anil! That’s correct. Science wasn’t perfect before partisan attacks, so we shouldn’t be trying to get back to the world we left in 2024. We need something more resilient, or science will continue to buckle under the next infrastructural shock, which can come from many vectors.

Phenomenal show! We as your audience were totally engrossed. Fingers crossed I have a chance to see it again, “see it again” naturally meaning “see something like it but of course with totally new elements due to the once-in-a-lifetime nature of the performance.”

Our government feels like when Scar took over after Mufasa died. Just a bunch of ecological damage and hyenas running around this mf.

“If large numbers of academics working in the U.S. do decide to leave, Gold doubts other countries will be able to absorb them all. The end result, he warns, could be an exodus of talent from global science. “My biggest fear,” he says, is that “we’re going to lose a cohort of researchers.”” 🧪

Hopping back into the saddle after a long time away from social media. I suppose if now isn't the perfect time to impotently shout into the void, when is?
