I dove back into cycling in a big way this year. I blame it on turning 50 and the generally shitty state of {points at everything}. I’m not particularly fast, powerful, a great climber or sprinter. But it helps settle my mind and that is enough.

My cycling stats for 2025: 285 rides, 239 hours & 53 minutes, 6,743 kilometers, and 53,326 meters of elevation gain.

How NOT to design a conversation

A conversation with the chatbot for IHG, a hotel conglomerate. I tell the bot that I've reset my password, but I can't log in with it. The hotel responds with "I understand what you said, but I have not been taught how to answer your question…yet."

This is unhelpful. The chatbot should have fallback options (help docs, an option to chat with a human or call one, etc.) to help my solve my issue, which is preventing me from making a booking with them.

I am here, once again, *begging* Slack to stop sending the same email many times to a single person who's in many slack communities Same goes for in-app onboarding messages, upgrade messages, settings & configuration, etc etc

Several emails I received from Slack about AI updates they've made that includes a call-to-action to upgrade to a paid plan. They send out an email like this for each of the communities I'm in, which is… a lot.
