The ICC personnel have it hard enough as it was before, and the Trump Admin wants even more pressure on them. Undermining the global institutions the US itself was involved in building, how does that help US? There are better ways to handle the relationship with the ICC, certainly not like this.

Guess which two countries were AGAINST food being a human right during a UN Resolution in 2021? 1) North Korea 2) United States 3) China 4) Israel

Is there an AI Bubble? Yes. Am I invested in it? Also yes. Why? Because I have time to waste. 😂

Asking Russia for help while at the same time being in a proxy war against it is certainly... something. It's the first time I've seen such a thing. There is desperation, and then there's this. So much for lowering prices, America First, a "Strong" "Respected" nation reduced to begging Russia...

The failure to contain the Ebola outbreak in the Congo is a failure of the international community. COVID showed us that global cooperation on such health crises is necessary and urgent, and we still haven't built up the necessary response mechanism. Issues such as this warrant global solidarity.

A lot of groups have been dropping Claude usage lately. Microsoft, the Pentagon, Meta... Not a good look for a company going public on a $2T valuation.

I have re-continued my book collecting. Have about 700 books on the list. Will never be able to finish them in my lifetime. But it feels good to have them and to know I do. I can pick any topic that interests me at the moment and read about it in detail. Life is good.

I like Gemini's Gems feature. It does what it's supposed to do, and it's convenient. Don't understand why Google is removing it. But I guess it's Google, they're constantly adding and removing their own projects/ideas. Hopefully the new Skills feature can at least be as convenient as Gems.

The Trump Administration has been on a generational run to dismantle the government-published public information that is available to all from being read. Taking down sites, databases, reports, stopping programs... If you map it out, basically on average they do such actions once to twice a month.

The current US Administration underestimates the use of soft power to achieve their goals. It was a mistake to shut down, downsize, cut funding to, and gut their soft power apparatus. Instead their strategy has been to make TikTok edits and badly use AI for it. Mostly aimed at a domestic audience.

"Google announced plans to launch a satellite into space that will attempt to process AI queries..." - The Daily Upside www.thedailyupside.com/newsletter/t...
The Brave Little Refrigerator:
Google's satellite, roughly the size of a refrigerator, contains four AI chips called tensor processing units that together have around as much compute power as a single server at a data center. Phase two of Project Suncatcher will involve launching a duo of AI satellites next year to test how well they communicate with each other using lasers. Eventually, Google has drawn up plans to launch even more complex systems but for now, Project Suncatcher is more of a proof of concept that could, possibly next decade, yield results.

I remember when I was young and just starting to read, buying my first couple of small story books that cost only around one or two dollars. I still have those books, and the wonder of reading them is still there. It has allowed me to experience life in a truly unique way. I'm glad I got them.

I am absolutely NOT comfortable giving any AI chatbot or agent access to my banking or financial data. Hearing how AI agents will be used for shopping on behalf of people, well, not me. The most I could see myself giving, in terms of info, is perhaps email, but even that is stretching it.

UN reform must not include new permanent members to the Council who have a veto. It's chaotic and opportunistically used by the P5 now as it is, if even more nations have it, I can't imagine anything being done. Unless a better way is thought of, asking for more veto powers is frankly unrealistic.

The UN has been forced to abandon its responsibilities by the P5. They've done extensive damage to it through their direct or indirect actions throughout the years. Going so far as to even assassinate a Secretary-General when he did not bow to them. If these nations...

Even if AI becomes self-aware or achieves Singularity, it won't wipe out humanity. There is a possibility of a "Purge", but not civilizational extinction. We do a lot of good, and have more good people than bad. This is in our favor.

Countries should not be quick to shove AI into everything and use it for any major decisions worth a damn. Especially in warfare. We've been close to annihilation before because of human misunderstanding, and it will be easier to make irreversible mistakes when AI provides hallucinated information.

Iran's economy seems to be cracking under US pressure. Inflation is over 90%, with food and beverages over 100% GDP is expected to contract over 5-10% If this continues, it could be possible for the US to achieve its strategic objectives. Especially if pressure is ramped up even more.

I've been using Bluesky for a bit now, and it's pretty good. I'm glad there are no endless bot and age verifications like X, which Elon ruined. Free speech my ass. All your personal data goes to an Israeli company too... The only negative that there is, is there is a lot less people...

Being constantly pressured to give up personal information through identification when online is now the norm. The age of pretending we were anonymous on the internet is over. At least it was less hassle.

Grok has entered its enshittification era. Automations (Tasks) are worse, with frequent failed and empty responses. Imagine constantly messes up images. Even normal chat is stuck on thinking sometimes with no response. The best thing about it was the Automations, sucks they're so bad now.

Glad to see the public pushback about Flock cameras. That is an unacceptable level of surveillance power, which was and is abused constantly. There should be accountability before power.

AI development cannot be slowed or "paced". From a government POV, AI is a strategic weapon, and slowing down on purpose is creating weaknesses that can be exploited. Unless every country and research lab on Earth slows down AI development at the same time, it's pointless and hypocritical to do.

Are systemically important institutions and governments worldwide adopting AI in defense of their infrastructure and data fast enough? Because from what I'm seeing, AI being used in hacking and breaches has increased dramatically, and there are plenty of people who have warned it would continue.

Hearing Sam Altman speak is really something. Everyone knows that he's a massive hypocrite and liar, but he's still pretending to be all Mr. Good for Humanity. None of the people running the AI companies that could potentially create a super intelligence are trustworthy.

Comrade Trump once again with the promises made, promises not going to be kept. At this point, it is pathetic to hear. There is no way Congress is approving a trillion dollars for a "Trump dividend" Wasn't he confident about the midterms lol? The Iran War could use the money more. 😂

Tech companies are taking on so much debt to fund AI that it's pushing up government borrowing costs. 😭 AI is so big that it's affecting not only the real economy, but also the bond markets.

Solar panels have become really cheap, it's surprising. If you don't consider going fully independent from the grid, which is more expensive, considering battery costs, etc, installing solar panels for homes is now actually very cost effective in terms of lowering your bill.

How many leaks of personal data from AI chatbots have happened these years? Most recent one is Claude not properly tagging shared conversations to not be indexed by search engines. Some Chinese models don't have an opt-out button, like Kimi. Not that opting out is doing much, but it's something.

I'm not against data centers, but I think building them must have conditions placed that protect the surroundings, and also have necessary plans to not adversely affect the lives of the citizens nearby. While this would drive costs up, it wouldn't drive them so much as to become unsustainable.
