And here's a letter from my grandfather to the US immigration authorities requesting that my dad and his family be allowed to emigrate to the US even if he isn't allowed to do so. I can't imagine what it might feel like to have to write a letter like this.

1939 letter from my grandfather to US immigration authorities expressing his desire that my grandmother, father, and family be allowed to emigrate to the US even if he is not allowed to do so.

Here's the passport.

Image of Paraguayan passport showing my grandparents. My grandfather died in Bergen Belsen of either starvation or typhus.

Second page of Paraguayan passport with pictures of my father and his two siblings. My father was the youngest, at the bottom, and was approximately 5yo at this time this passport was forged.

Last page of Paraguayan passport that saved my father's life during the Holocaust. Had various text and seals that I don't understand.

Brooklyn lightscape at the botanic garden was pretty cool. The kids loved and didn't even complain about the walking.

I never met my grandfather who died of typhus or starvation in Bergen Belson, but I have this letter to remember him by. Thinking of the migrants currently being held in American concentration camps this 4th of July and praying for a better world.

Letter from Max Joshua to US immigration dated February 28, 1939 starting that he wishes for his family to be admitted to the United States even if he should be denied admission.

My 6yo has invented perpetual motion - just shine a light on a solar panel and plug that light into the solar panel.
