Looks like it can do macro with wide angle settings—gets to 5 cm distance. It doesn’t have a filter thread tho—but there are hacks around that. You might have to get into the settings to turn off the barrel retraction…

@sbdriver123.bsky.social Slides! Starts with this: A slide adapter for any camera with a macro capability. In my case, I have an old Sony Alpha 350. Here it’s on the photo stand I use for photos, but of course it doesn’t need to be upside down for slides.

ENORMOUSLY relieved to post this update to a terrifying graph: Kaposi’s sarcoma of the lymph nodes in 19-44 year olds has dropped back to reasonable levels after an enormous spike. Thank you @1goodtern.bsky.social ! But see the next slide:

A “tell” for someone not being a medical expert is that they don’t know how to use the word “cognitive” correctly
Medical expert here. He’s an 80 year old man standing and holding a press conference and fielding questions on the fly. Theres many 50 year olds who would struggle to do this. Cognitive decline is not an issue and all of us should wish to be this cognitive at 80. @gcfor3

I not only found a photo of the sign I quoted (almost accurately! And the reality is even better!) but of another similarly wordy sign--both photographed in London, August 2016
A sign reads "This room is closed for refurbishment. We apologize for any inconvenience caused" "Emergency Vehicle Entrance. Kindly do not obstruct these gates by parking in front of them"

From wikipedia: In remembrance of a cat kept at the station before its closure, a memorial tile was installed during the works for the reopening. During later refurbishment works in 2014 care was taken to protect it.

Just watched an interesting little short but this brief scene really intrigues me: A fan with partially filled vials on its blades. Described as a "perpetual motion machine" which obviously it isn't but it could be pretty damn close...esp if you add even a small amount of wind power. Link follows

“Come From Away” just moved an audience to tears in Kansas City. There is still hope. There is still goodness deep in the heart of America.
From @effthealgorithm on Xitter:

I just saw the musical “Come from Away” which tells the story of Gander, Newfoundland taking in thousands of travelers stranded after planes were grounded following the attacks on 9/11.

I’m a live performance person. I go to plays, musicals, symphonies, readings. But I have never in my life been to a show where the audience sobbed and people passed tissues down the aisle and patted each other’s shoulders and strangers hugged each other when the house lights came back on. Until today.

It was as if we were all remembering not just the tragedy, but the triumph of goodness. How we used to be. How we were once united.

I hope some even remembered that Canada has always been our country’s friend, and friends deserve our loyalty.

This country was great when it was kind. That’s the America we need again.

Thank you, @KCRep.

I spotted this in a short film about Wasaga Beach, ON in the 1950s. It's a very strange looking station wagon. We appear to be seeing it from the rear, in spite of what appear to be large headlights. Any gearheads out there recognize this model?
