Cannot be overstated how much X throttling posts with links (i.e. all links by think tanks like @ecdpm.bsky.social) contributed to the migration of institutions to Bluesky - possibly above stated reasons of values, truth etc. Accounts with ~1 million followers were getting 4 likes at best...

Part of the solution is class diversity and media diversity, e.g. - hiring comms/ researchers from outside "the scene" - having a presence in contested media spaces: retreating to Bluesky alone, e.g., narrows audience significantly

e.g. populist right, who may be dismissive of think tanks as a whole, or see them as merely influence vehicles > research institutes (echoed in the US' Heritage Foundation #project2025) At best, it introduces major communications challenges to institutions not used to playing beyond the choir.

Recent On Think Tanks report hints at anxiety of growing cultural split (and diminished influence) b/w think tanks and governments. Rarely acknowledged: think tank staff + politicians tend(ed) to be of the same class (revolving door, see recent Labour appointees). Not the case with new movements.
