Lately I've been thinking a lot about iconic freeware and shareware games of my childhood, and trying to track them down. Today I remembered Krypton Egg. I didn't have a copy of this myself, but I could play it on a PC that belonged to my mother's best friend. It seemed magical.

I don't think I'm projecting. He's not subtle in his concerns, they're pretty explicit (too explicit) in the text. Odysseus basically summarizes the movie's points in his conversations with Penelope at the end, and Penelope earlier also comments pretty explicitly on the collapse of institutions.

Sam Neill was one of those actors where every moment you got to see him on screen felt like a privilege. Nobody was ever more compelling and magnetic. His performance in In the Mouth of Madness, one of the smartest films ever made, is one of the greatest cinematic delights.
