Last but certainly not least, we need to thank our Organizers for PyOhio 2026. These tireless folks have been working all year to ensure everyone who attended had a great experience. Thank you each for your hard work! #Python #Conference #ThankYou

That wasn't a bad approach per se, but knowing what blanks and cuts work well is probably a better starting point.

The first time I ordered shirts for a conference, I didn't have much of a reference point and recall asking the print shop I was using to recommend "whatever high quality options you have".

Jon Banafato @jonafato.bsky.social · 11/07/2026

My goal here is to have a reference for "I have a shirt from <conference> in my closet that I like, can I also order those for my own event?". I'm aiming to be descriptive rather than prescriptive here.

Jon Banafato @jonafato.bsky.social · 11/07/2026

I'm trying to compile some information about conference t-shirts. If you have a shirt from a conference and know the make and model (e.g. Next Level Apparel 3600), I'd like to add it to a spreadsheet.

It took a bit of time for this to click for me, but I've realized that the theme song to The Vampire Lestat is functionally the same as A Little Bit Alexis from Schitt's Creek, and that is fantastic.

I've seen a few conference websites recently that have a page to highlight other communities. No strings, no sponsorships, just "communities we think you should know about". I really like this concept and want to do more of it.

✨ Take a gander at this! ✨ My next book will be the first in a young chapter book series called THISTLE AND GOOSE! Thistle is a anthropomorphized cat hedge witch, and Goose is… well... a goose. I'll be sharing more about these characters before the first book comes out in Summer '27. Stay tuned!

Season finale this week, so I supposed I'll need to find something new to watch soon. Thankfully, if my local hardware store's calendar is correct, Halloween season starts in less than a month, so there should be plenty more horror media out soon.

I have recently doubled down on some travel gear, and it has made trips over the last few months quite a bit more pleasant. Of note, I can recommend a travel pillow, a dedicated outfit for plane days, and modern noise-cancelling headphones.

If you're a community organizer looking for other folks with that experience, there's a good chance that one of us has an experience to share, or at least a helpful outside perspective. I am, of course, biased, but I think it's a wonderful group to be a part of. www. conferencechats.org

It is still very tech-heavy (and Python in particular), but our topics are the organizing side of things, which is almost always pretty separate from the subject matter of any given conference or meetup.

Jon Banafato @jonafato.bsky.social · 24/05/2026

Like any community, some are more active than others, and it's still a pretty tiny fraction of the population of conference and community organizers that could be part of it, but it's certainly grown a bit over the years from its "a few of us on a calendar invite" origin.
