I’ve just written this story for Nature about the strongest evidence yet for hidden chambers behind the walls of Tutankhamun’s tomb - I’m so excited about this! www.nature.com/articles/d41...

Living systems, from bacteria to plants to mammals, all emit a faint light, a byproduct of metabolic activity in cells. Could these 'biophotons' be subtle markers of health? Might other cells even react to light signals? by @jomarchant.bsky.social | @nature.com www.nature.com/articles/d41...

All living things emit a faint glow. Could this light be useful?
Ultra-weak ‘biophotons’ might be used to diagnose disease, or could even represent a new signalling mechanism in cells.

When I was signing books after, one guy asked if I could write this in his copy: “There is no music until we play.” I think that summarises it beautifully.

One idea I touched on in the talk was thinking of reality as a creative process – not a pre-existing landscape or collection of marbles bouncing around but more like improvised jazz, something we all make together, in the moment.

I had a lot of fun talking about the science of “now” at @rigb.org earlier this week. A brilliant audience as always, throwing out questions on everything from entropy to meditation practices to AI consciousness 😁 (Thanks @kathmath.bsky.social for pics!)

A lovely piece about what our view of the stars means to us as human beings - and what it means to lose them (via @nature.com briefing) www.abc.net.au/news/2026-03...

Stars are disappearing before our eyes — and something in us is shifting
For most of human history, the night sky has been a shared inheritance, a source of wonder. Now, more than a billion children see barely any stars in the night sky above their homes. So what does that...

What is 'NOW'? By the time you finish this sentence, it’s already gone. In her book, In Search of Now, Jo Marchant explores how science is uncovering the mysteries of this elusive moment - what it means for how we experience time, memory and reality itself. Tues 17th Feb @jomarchant.bsky.social
