The Jolly Hobos | Brad @jollyhobos.bsky.social · 08/10/2026One of my pet hates - people providing accommodation too lazy to hand the fridge door on the correct side based on its location. This one here on Maddalena Island is pretty egregious 150
The Jolly Hobos | Brad @jollyhobos.bsky.social · 08/10/2026I'm with you! A European beach is more than likely to be a rocky thing. I remember first coming to Europe as an adult and refusing to call those rocky places beaches 😂 This is what beaches are like for us back home 000
The Jolly Hobos | Brad @jollyhobos.bsky.social · 08/10/2026Should be nice and cool then. Where are you heading? 000
The Jolly Hobos | Brad @jollyhobos.bsky.social · 08/10/2026Haha - I know, it's a Mediterranean customisation for all vehicles 😂 It's been nice - hot and sunny yesterday, poured rain overnight so all fresh and cool today which is wonderful. 110

The Jolly Hobos | Brad @jollyhobos.bsky.social · 06/10/2026We really like greater San Diego area. La Jolla and the coast up there is fabulous. Sealions, pelicans, harbour seals and more. Have fun. 010
The Jolly Hobos | Brad @jollyhobos.bsky.social · 06/10/2026Marché Victor-Hugo is indeed a great place for a snack. I have to agree - I really love Toulouse. It has such a great energy, the university town and capital of the aerospace industry in Europe lends such vibrancy. Plus there is cool old stuff too. 110
The Jolly Hobos | Brad @jollyhobos.bsky.social · 05/10/2026We have moved further north in Sardinia and today arrived at the quaintest & cutest town we've seen in Sardinia - San Pantaleo. It's on the Costa Smeralda, but instead of being on the coast with the ultra rich and their mega yachts, we are up in the hills in a town founded by goat herders and its 🤩 072

The Jolly Hobos | Brad @jollyhobos.bsky.social · 04/10/2026I've been quietly fascinated by these trees that literally grow out of rocks in the limestone mountains of Sardinia. Of course I have seen many trees grow on and around rocks - but these guys literally look to be bursting out of rocks, splitting the rocks. Fabulous. 130
The Jolly Hobos | Brad @jollyhobos.bsky.social · 04/10/2026So true - so often if we have ever needed some help there has been someone willing to lend a helping hand. It really makes for a great personal interaction and diffuses a hell of a lot of stress! 000
The Jolly Hobos | Brad @jollyhobos.bsky.social · 04/10/2026That's a challenging philosophy there 😂 But yes, sometimes the best experiences can come from the unexpected. 010
The Jolly Hobos | Brad @jollyhobos.bsky.social · 04/10/2026There really is. Just a genuine willingness to help out with nothing expected in return. Genuinely honest people too - the tyre guy didn't have a new tyre of my size - he had a second hand one that fitted, he gave me the tyre for free and just charged 30 euro for labour! After opening just for me! 010
The Jolly Hobos | Brad @jollyhobos.bsky.social · 04/10/2026It really was a great interaction Liz, he was just a really helpful, friendly fellow. Funny that you too had the same experience with sign language and broken words but still getting assistance. Good old Sardinians 😄 010
The Jolly Hobos | Brad @jollyhobos.bsky.social · 03/10/2026The lady tow truck driver got us to town via crazy mountain roads and the tyre guy came in and opened the shop just to get us a tyre. So that's how I got 2 kilos of grapes and more importantly, a glimpse of the beautiful people and support they provide each other in their small community. /end 160
The Jolly Hobos | Brad @jollyhobos.bsky.social · 03/10/2026He spent almost an hour and half in the hot sun with us and then when we told him we really appreciated his help he told us that many times strangers in other countries had helped him when he had trouble. The tow truck turned up and we bid our helping angel farewell. ⤵️ 130
The Jolly Hobos | Brad @jollyhobos.bsky.social · 03/10/2026He took us into the grounds and gave us an impromptu tour, all the while cutting bunches of grapes and shoving them into my increasingly full hands telling what variety they were. ⤵️ 130
The Jolly Hobos | Brad @jollyhobos.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Everything was closed on a Saturday afternoon but they still came out. While we waited we chatted with the man through sign language, a few understood words, and Google Translate. Turns out he owns the farm where we stopped growing grapes and olives. ⤵️ 120
The Jolly Hobos | Brad @jollyhobos.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Guess what? No spare tyre (modern cars 😑) but no repair kit!! Within a couple of minutes an older Sardinian man stop and helped me search for the repair kit. No go. So he called his friend the tyre guy in town who arranged to get a tow truck out. ⤵️ 120
The Jolly Hobos | Brad @jollyhobos.bsky.social · 03/10/2026So let me tell you how I came to have so many grapes. After our steep and rocky hike today in rural Sardinia, we were only 5 minutes into our 40 minute drive back when we suffered a flat tyre. No worries we thought, I'll get out the sealant spray and pump and off we go. Cont'd ⤵️ 460

The Jolly Hobos | Brad @jollyhobos.bsky.social · 01/10/2026This afternoon we went to the Grotta del Bue Marino (Sea Ox Cave) just outside Cala Gonone. It's a massive cave system that extends through the limestone coast for over 70km. You catch a boat in and then have a guided walk in for the first 1km and return. It was really quite beautiful. 1111
The Jolly Hobos | Brad @jollyhobos.bsky.social · 01/10/2026We did a very rocky hike this morning at Cala Gonone, Sardinia. To survive a lot of trees worked out out gow to literally grow through rocks! They were amazing. 050
