A simple moment of friendship, as a break from politics.. On the right is Poppy, a purebred Arabian mare, with her friend and buddy Paddy, an Australian Pony x Australian Stockhorse. Poppy moved in to ask Paddy to groom with her.

On the left is a dark brown, almost black horse. He has a small white stripe between his eyes, and his right front foot and back left foot are white.
He is reaching across to a larger grey horse, who is rather grubby. She is reaching across to the gelding's back, and the gelding is touching the mare's shoulder. They are both gently scraping their teeth across the skin to scratch and groom their friend.

In the background, there are trees close by, and in the far distance, a range of low hills. It is late afternoon on a sunny day in Australia.

Yesterday was a day I've been dreading - I had to give the nod to my vet crew to release my darling Daisy from her pain. Xrays had revealed what we suspected - a tumour growing on the tendons of a front leg. There were no viable options for a dog of her age. There's a hole in my heart...

At heading towards 13, Daisy was a black greyhound going very grey. Her ears are held out like handlebars - her expression of interest. She is looking directly at me because she thinks it's dinner time.

Even on her last day, when she was struggling to even walk, she tried to do her happy dance when I came in with her car harness. Despite pain, as i assisted her up the step into the clinic, she still greeted all the clinic staff with her usual happiness at seeing people - she simply loved everyone.

It's terribly quiet here now. No pattering feet and hopeful, polite expression for lunch cheese, no sniffing in the dark to see what's on the wind...💔

My lovely old girl Daisy is a sad pup ... she had minor surgery yesterday, a tendon nick or 'tenotomy' to relieve tension on a toe that has been causing trouble for weeks. By releasing tension, my vet is hoping the toe will pop up, so the nail doesn't rub her next toe to the point of bleeding.

Last week, my doctor made a wide margin when he removed a suspicious looking skin lesion the size of a small finger tip above my eyebrow. Yesterday, I was given the results of the biopsy - a 'very aggressive' cancer. /2

Daisy is zorsted! First, I hung out washing, which had to be supervised. Then I vacuumed the house - nasty thing it is! Next, I disappeared in the car - sneak technique to do fencing stuff with my neighbour. Highlight of the day - a trip to the rubbish transfer station with a trailer load of stuff!

Daisy is an aged black greyhound - she is almost white on her face, and she has a white chest and white tips to get paws. She is lying on a grey orthopaedic dog bed, resting her head on the bolster that goes around 3 sides, her eyes are closed. Her bed is in front of a timber panelled wall, and her elegantly draped front leg is almost touching speckled cream carpet. There's a timber shelving unit on one side of her bed.

Good evening! Introducing my retired greyhound Daisy and myself, a nearly retired teacher. No good at racing, Daisy has excelled at loving people - she has a 'list' of her favourite humans.
