Old boss’s final pet projects are the things that are most vulnerable in a changing of the guard. (See DC and how 5G became nothing after Didio left) Marvel could decide quickly that a horror line of their superheroes is too dark.

John Wickham @johnwickham.bsky.social · 05/10/2026

There’s a problem with that line and that’s Martian Manhunter was out on Mars for most of the Satellite era. He was more of a special guest whenever he showed up. My actual guess would probably be the Hawks or the Atom.

Jalen brought nothing to the table as a host, and for a show that uses the host in every sketch now-a-days, that is a problem. However, Jeremy and Jane really tried their best to give the show some life. SO instead of zero, I give the show a 1.5/10 for night. #SNL

John Wickham @johnwickham.bsky.social · 27/09/2026

So, tonight SNL was a hot garbage fire. When I think of the worst sketches, I will have Mikey orgasm face and Ben with the dumb glasses at the top the list (I hope). Che and Jost were off their game and Katseye just a blatant attempt from the recors company at chasing what is popular. #SNL

Honestly, Ghosts is Max-coded, I would have been surprised if you hadn't watched any of it.

John Wickham @johnwickham.bsky.social · 20/09/2026

I feel like this (Eternally Yours) and the creators’ fellow show Ghosts are so up your alley. Do you want a gay Revolutionary War figure that is annoyed that Hamilton stole his fame, or ol’ Gilded Age socialite who keeps hoping someone dies with cocaine in their possession. That’s Ghosts!

It’s an undercover name because she’s trying to stop the gangs. Her actual Superhero identity is still Batgirl.

John Wickham @johnwickham.bsky.social · 17/09/2026

I would say Angel Films is the next tier up for PureFlix in filmmaking but only a single tier… so what they release is pretty much still awful.

I am not looking forward to Chappelle as the midterm election host, and I am especially not looking forward to that being his 5-Timer episode. Seriously, just get Chris Rock again so he isn't the first 5-timer host whose is black.

John Wickham @johnwickham.bsky.social · 17/09/2026

The Heist was a big album stateside. And when you look at the rap music that was big at the same time (minus Kendrick), Macklemore was probably the most fun rapper of the time.

Which member of the Comic Collective would have conquered Europe if they had one bad day in the past?

000

John Wickham @johnwickham.bsky.social · 08/09/2026

Real answer is that Superboy-Prime punched a hole into reality that brought them back to life during Infinite Crisis tho.

Grodd needed some extra Gorilla back-up and used his psychic powers to imprint fellow evil ape back to live during one of his schemes. Brain loves Mallah too much to let him live alone, so he if Mallah came back to life, Brain created a program to clone him back to life.

For the people who really wanted a Hal Jordan Green Lantern show, Johns might’ve well been the guy who invented him. I can buy those folks having an issue with this. Me? If you going to Hal, I need to see him constantly getting concussions, aka the real old GL stories.

every billionaire & tech mogul, they all want to be adored & celebrated without doing the things Dolly did with a fraction of the power & money. What she had, she gave away. I'm sure she was comfortable (& that's good!). But she just relentlessly helped. It's not that difficult. Love. Care. Help. 💚🌸

Aquaman is one of those characters that you can say almost anything is best, and I would be like okay sure that makes sense, and wouldn’t argue any further.

Have you seen the Kevin versions of all these aliens. (Cause in the reboot Kevin builds an Omnitrix in his garage, but instead of 10 aliens, Kevin has 11.)

HBO's "Harry Potter" thing is gonna premiere huge. Anybody pretending otherwise is silly. But I think there's a greater-than-zero chance that the series eventually loses momentum and becomes a cultural irrelevance and a financial albatross. Actors signing for late-arriving roles deserve THAT.

Countdown tries for a similar structure (1 Gotham plot (Harley), 1 Superman plot (Olsen), 1 Time Travel plot (Legion), 1 Magic plot (Mary Marvel), 1 trio in space plot (Jason/Donna/Kyle), 1 villain plot (Pied Piper), and 1 cosmic plot (Darkseid)), but that series just sucks.

John Wickham @johnwickham.bsky.social · 06/08/2026

I completely understand that DC wanted 1 Batman-based plot and 1 Metropolis-based plot in their weekly series to touch those corners that have multiple books being published. That’s part of capturing the wide world of DC.

Kate Kane is one hell of a character to make it big, but the 52 fallout at least exists in interesting ways. Compared to the post-FC new characters/stories they at least at a chance to run awhile and not get f-ed by the New 52.

Renee became the question again after Rucka came back to DC. Before then they did a weird mystical take on the Question about an immortal forced to wonder the that never really took off. And Vic Sage was a government official in Suicide Squad and Renee was in the GCPD again.

He makes into the reboot so that’s a point in his favor

The only reason why a person should be annoyed by Ryan Gosling doing Ghost Rider is, if you’re like me before last month and thought Ryan Gosling and Ryan Reynolds were the same guy. Then you could be annoyed that Deadpool would also be Ghost Rider. But you would be wrong.

John Wickham @johnwickham.bsky.social · 27/07/2026

Vilgax got tired of his ships blowing up and needed somewhere to keep his stuff. Might as well be his home planet.

000

John Wickham @johnwickham.bsky.social · 27/07/2026

Aww, now I realize that the better joke would have been to have Earth’s greatest hero to be Eartha Kitt. I am so ashamed.

010

John Wickham @johnwickham.bsky.social · 27/07/2026

I like Primus and it’s recon for the series, but I understand why you might not. But Azmuth building a planet to store the DNA of the universe as sort of a last measure is a bit of world building that I love.

000

John Wickham @johnwickham.bsky.social · 27/07/2026

I like the way that it works in this episode as a virus. Z left a little DNA behind in the people to get an army of drones. And don’t you know that our planet is named after our greatest hero: James A Earth.

120

John Wickham @johnwickham.bsky.social · 26/07/2026

Aww, you’re missing the first Lodestar. But that’s not the best run of episodes.

110

John Wickham @johnwickham.bsky.social · 26/07/2026

I’m ok with the design of new Vilgax, because it shows how healthy and prepared he is. The OG works but it is also the design of an alien who has just survived a major disaster (being blown up, escaping a prison, etc.) This is Vilgax with proper time to rehab and rest.

000

John Wickham @johnwickham.bsky.social · 25/07/2026

I say this in positive way: but this Cheetah design looks like an alien Ben 10 would fight. And that’s my kind of shit.

010

John Wickham @johnwickham.bsky.social · 25/07/2026

That one isn’t great, but the background of that being a last-minute change because the network vetoed an episode earlier.

110

John Wickham @johnwickham.bsky.social · 25/07/2026

They say that Wildmutt was used to track down the Highbreed. But I do like having Cannonbolt, Upchuck, and Way Big in rotation for the rest of Alien Force.

010

John Wickham @johnwickham.bsky.social · 25/07/2026

I like seeing Charmcaster and Darkstar again. I like seeing the Veedles. And I actually enjoyed Vilgax as the big bad again.

110

John Wickham @johnwickham.bsky.social · 25/07/2026

I have some affection for second half of Alien Force, but overall it’s weaker than the first half. But it introduces the world to Rath, so it can’t be all bad.

110

John Wickham @johnwickham.bsky.social · 25/07/2026

That’s a Greg Rucka passion project. He has been trying to get a medical series in Gotham for a while (there’s a story about Gotham Hospitals in TEC 1100)

020

John Wickham @johnwickham.bsky.social · 24/07/2026

I remember hearing that 1.) long-time MCU player Maria Hill was killed off in the first episode, 2.) the weird choice to Skrulls the villain despite the way that were portrayed in the universe, and 3.) making some weird choices with Rhodey.

030

John Wickham @johnwickham.bsky.social · 24/07/2026

I was going to mention the change of CEOs as part of it, with the new CEO wanting to launch a digital service so Marvel had to make new content for it, but I ran out of space.

130

John Wickham @johnwickham.bsky.social · 24/07/2026

After 10 years of MCU running smoothly, everything went quickly wrong after 2019. Their next RDJ (Chadwick Boseman) died, a pandemic happened which both trained audiences not to go theaters/wrecked the flow, their main big bad failed (Kang), and the other main star (The Marvels) bombed.

100

John Wickham @johnwickham.bsky.social · 24/07/2026

So, you not looking forward to Ben trying to stop a war while Kevin does some war profiteering?

110

John Wickham @johnwickham.bsky.social · 23/07/2026

First someone needs to rebuild the show from scratch.

020

John Wickham @johnwickham.bsky.social · 23/07/2026

For a lot of reasons it is terrible that McDuffie died so young, but my big regret is that we didn’t get to see his version of Omniverse. What does Rook look like under his hand.

Yeah, they could have said that Julie was just an implanted memory that never really existed in a bad black-ops plan.
