Tried colouring this and didn't like it so went with grey scale instead. Which I do like.

Definitely not inktober but I found myself furiously inking random scenes in an effort to push my mark making. Pleasurable. Now I need to refill my brush pens.

Depressed at the Cara scrapping/hack. This world for common people has changed for the worse since the 'Tech bros' appeared on the scene. My illustration work is cursed so I can only hope that that curse finds its way back to the thieving c*ck juggling thunder c*nts! #TaxTheRich and then eat them.
Image shows digitally drawn image of the artist zombified by Social Media expressing his f*cking outrage at the third scrapping/hack of the social website Cara.

Cara has been purposely targeted by a scrapping company when Cara have repeatedly defended that the material on the site is not to be used for Ai training. Cara is very low profile in the social media landscape and have taken steps to protect their users against Ai images.

Cara feels different and for that they have been punished.

I have enjoyed playing with Krita recently. It has a good set of brushes for sketching. I like it and it reminds me of a simpler time with drawing software. What PhotoShop did decades earlier with colour and painting, Krita is doing opening me up to using texture.

Thanks to @jamescorcoran78.bsky.social I fell into watching The Sentinals. Fantastic stuff. Love the augmented soldier designs. Made notes. I found the original Bande Dessinée albums on Archive.org and the Enrique Breccia art work has a feint Kev O'Neil look about it.

Ah. This was the file I was looking for... Cirrus Uncinus, are thin, wispy high-altitude clouds that resemble a horse's tail. In lew of not drawering anything new I am thinking of collecting my series of dream comics and stories into a Pdf download.

Some old film 'sketch' pages (from 2017) I found on a hard drive whilst looking for something else entirely. Per Aspera Ad Astra (1981 Russian film). Dip pen and ink and water/digital colour. I drew the inky bits as I watched and coloured/lettered and arranged afterwards.

I found some of my old markers from when I was doing a Graphic Design course, about 40 years ago. They still work, kind of, coloured in some doodles from my sketchbook. Not sure about the toxicity levels but hey, 'squeakers' are good fun to use.

Film sketch. Scene while buffering. La Espera/The Wait 2023. 1970's Andalusian land owner bribes a hunt organiser with fatal consequences. Bleak stuff but beautifully shot.
An ink and watercolor film sketch depicting a scene from "La Espera / The Wait (2023)".

The artwork features a bearded, middle-aged man shown in right profile, sitting outside on a simple metal-framed chair.

He has a somber, downcast expression, looking out toward a stark landscape. Behind him, a weathered wooden fence post wrapped in wire mesh stands next to him.

The background is dominated by a bright, hazy sky and sweeping, textured ink lines that give the impression of a dusty, parched Andalusian landscape, with a simple rectangular building or wall visible in the distance.

The foreground is dark with detailed grass textures and white ink splatters mimicking dust or low-lying light catches.

Image shows a clean, direct digital scan of the artwork, featuring the artist's initials "JW 2026" in the bottom left corner and the handwritten title "La Espera / The Wait 2023" in the bottom right corner. An ink and watercolor film sketch depicting a scene from "La Espera / The Wait (2023)".

Pencil and inking video for that particular scene. I am now a brush pen convert. The range of mark making and line variation make drawing fun again. The thicker lines means less noodling from me.

Affinity 3.0 is the best alternative to PhotoShop at the moment. There are differences that are annoying after using Ps and a bit of research is needed. There's plenty of YouTube videos to help out though. I use Affinity 2.0 because I bought it and want to get my full 10 years out of it!

I don't usually notice details like this but the trailer had edited frames compared to the film. I can understand why. #TheBoneTemple

Chancellor Reeves November pre budget speech. Why does it all sound so familiar?
Cartoon by John Welding from 2017 based on the film Frankenstein (1931) showing the then Prime Minister May standing over the living corpse of Great Britain declaring, "It's alive... and strong... and stable!" mocking the Tory slogan of the day.

Watched 'Protein' the other night and really enjoyed it (my only real complaint is the lead character is too stoic!). The 'Ken Loach' meets vigilante serial killer angle worked for me as did the similarity to 1999's (eat to live) Ravenous.
Black and white brush pen drawing and notes with a grey scale textured overlay (from the artist's own photo library).

He watched the film 'Protein' the other night and quite enjoyed it. Enough to draw characters from memory at least.

It's been a weird year for my drawing. It kind of peaked using a computer and I wasn't able to sustain or replicate the results I was getting. With all the Ai shenanigans going on at the minute, my response is to go back to basics and draw freehand with a brush pen. Drawing direct.
