Volodarskaya Linear Production and Dispatch Station is on fire in Moscow region after a massive drone attack on the area. This is the largest oil depot and a major pipeline transport hub in the Moscow region.

Yes, there have been some good finishes, but this week, having 4 games simultaneously going down to the finish was another level

This early slate of the #NFL has been absolutely mental. Brilliant stuff. Loved it

Just watched #NRLGrandFinal, and that’s as one sided as game as you will see. How it only ended up being won by a point is anyone’s guess

The highly irregular nature of the arrangement, and the Commission's findings of sham and intentional concealment, suggest to us that there should be a criminal investigation.

So I think they didn't pay the £12m UK tax. I expect HMRC worked this out some time ago. But we can't know what happened. Did HMRC give up? Doubt it. Did City pay up? No sign of that in their accounts. Is an investigation still ongoing? Wouldn't surprise me.

So this was all a sham. The consultancy's only purpose was to funnel money to Mr Mancini which Manchester City pretended was not from Manchester City and its owner. That was the Commission's conclusion:

Manchester City cheated Premier League rules, the Commission found. Did it also cheat HMRC? We've examined the decision and leaked Mancini documents. We think City likely failed to pay £12m in tax. There should be a criminal investigation. Thread:

Yeah, but what price would they want? And if they’re in League 2?
100
johnrawes.bsky.social @johnrawes.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
That’s another thing. Owner may survive but board can’t and if the owner can’t, they have to be put up for sale, and who can afford them or want them in League 2?

Unless they stick them in League 2, with the blessing of the EFL That would be great for their competition for at least 2/3 years

Surely them getting off lightly would put the PL in a very bad position
000
johnrawes.bsky.social @johnrawes.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
I think they think because it didn’t go from the owner directly to the club it’s ok, and it’s not. That’s what I think they can’t understand I think if they get less than 100 points deduction they will have done well
100
johnrawes.bsky.social @johnrawes.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
Like I say I could be wrong, it just looks like that was their excuse and why they don’t understand why the PL don’t believe them
100
johnrawes.bsky.social @johnrawes.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
It has to be enough points to relegate them surely? Everton paid £35m to Everton which is slightly different, but that was 6 points, hard to think £100m would be enough either Really does depend how harsh the PL want to be
000
johnrawes.bsky.social @johnrawes.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
From what I can see, their argument is that because the money didn’t come directly from Abu Dhabi, then it can’t be classed as coming from the owner Where in fact the owner gave it to these companies, and then they gave it to the club I think that’s the argument anyway. Could be wrong

johnrawes.bsky.social @johnrawes.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
They do. The PL need them gone this year. Points deduction this year. Can’t have them winning the league. Make the league a joke

I wish I could be as confident as you seem to be about it It’s not a matter of who we have to sell, as who teams want I would bet a large amount of money that there are already clubs wondering why they weren’t bidding £40m for Trafford

johnrawes.bsky.social @johnrawes.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
I don’t think they should get the privilege of staying in the league after doing this

As soon as they brought the charges, they knew this could be the result. They will be more than happy to win the case, if it means losing some viewers. Better that then the other way round

PL should be looking to make an example of a club, who have tried to basically laugh in their faces while they have cheated The league will be fine. No amount of money will be enough of a fine, without a points deduction

Have now slowly re-read the ruling, and it is even more damning than at first reading. The ruling pretty much sets out Manchester City was fraudulent on a systemic long-term basis. Not just mere non-compliance, but ‘concealments’ and ‘disguises’. Also some MCFC witnesses were ‘dishonest’.

830m pounds in “sham” income over almost a decade of cheating is hard to get your head around. And even during the hearing evidence given on behalf of the club by witnesses was “false in a number of key respects” and they gave evidence “that they knew to be untrue and so had to be dishonest.”

We have been working on these stories for a decade now and the Independent Commission has now ruled. Even if some technicality appears, several different bodies have now discovered rampant cheating underpinned the emergence and success of the team that redefined English football. Seismic.
