Developed a roll of film found at the back of a drawer and have no recollection of taking this one.

Hans Memling's painting of four cranes in the National Gallery, holding a stone aloft so they do not sleep, reminding of the two cranes outside my window in Camden doing pretty much the same thing.

First five pages pretty much everything you want from a book and a secondhand bookshop find.

The lump of marble out of which the next book is being carved. Drafted to 60,000 words, but half of them will have to go.

Really wonderful to see 'The Worst Exhibition In The World' doing well, out there in the world. Thank you all, this is the real reward for writing: 'Our praises are our wages'. I thought about this while admiring the last Elm tree in London earlier today, on Marylebone High Street.

The Wikipedia page on Donald Trump and fascism is itself a monument to resistance, and yet there is not a single mention of the spectacle and visual element so important to the fascisms of the thirties.

Best sightline in any gallery, six hundred feet to the Mond Crucifixion by Raphael in the #NationalGallery, London.

The spare dry lines of Millet's 1856 etching of 'The Gleaners' make this print even more affecting than the famous painting in the Musée d'Orsay. As if the image itself has been gleaned from the margins of art history.
