In response to Oswald Mosley's Blackshirts, the Public Safety Act 1936 made it an offence under to march in uniform. The Crime and Policing Bill 2026 gave the police the power to order the removal of face coverings at a protest. We cannot stand by and allow the normalisation of fascist intimidation.

Tonight is opening night of Something Rotten! at the Manchester Opera House. Originally on Broadway between 2015 and 2017, it’s taken us a long time to get this musical comedy to the UK. I know I would say this because I co-wrote it - but I think it’s bloody great!
