Interesting where cultures frame new technologies as a means of *transcendence*, not just improved utility. This is how The Internet was often framed in the mid 90s. Come 2010s, and it had become *the mundane* (which I suppose is why so many people are nostalgic for the Y2K era and aesthetic)..

The future *has* to be in the open models, and it *has* to empower humans. But we need to understand this tech does open real possibilities for people. I recommend trying AI-coding your own workflow tools before settling on a 100% anti- position. I was also very skeptical until I tried it myself.

It has been formalized, which means others can read the results of how it was proved, and learn from it. Don't get me wrong - there are massive issues with this situation, but I think at this point in time, it is more fruitful to find the human-affirming way forwards with the tech - not ignore it.

Look, I was skeptical too - until I tried it out for programming. It lets us iterate at an incredible speed, and opens up the possibilities of local-community-specific software. I hate how the frontier orgs have acted, but the path forwards for human empowerment here really is in the Open models.

Yeah go for it. I also hate how the frontier companies have stolen from creators, and how our governments missed their chance to hold them accountable. But I've experienced, first-hand, how we can use this tech to actually empower people. I think that discussion is far more fruitful.

I get a lot of value out of Claude, but the way Dario talks about the US as though it's the only beacon of civilization reeeally shits me. Like dude, maybe don't constantly shit on China making AI progress, when they've given far more back to the world than you, in terms of actually open GenAI.

I think the scales of AI negatives-positives have tipped for me, now *leaning* Pro. A few reasons why: - Open models now frontier-level (de-centralized, given back to the people the data was taken from) - Enabling local-adapted tool prototyping - Reported innovations in datacentre water-recycling

The bottom one is better in most ways, the top one has a bit more "atmosphere". Not sure if that's just a different spot in the dungeon, but I find the larger amount of blue hues give it a "misty" quality. I am sure that could be recreated along with all other improvements, if that was your goal.
