Johnny Jay @johnnyjay.bsky.social · 19hIt's the best flavour... if you are talking about ice cream? "Vanilla Fudge" were a great band in the sixties as well. 000
Johnny Jay @johnnyjay.bsky.social · 09/10/2026He's right. That's where everything went wrong in the first place. Also Police Scotland was a disaster. 000
Johnny Jay @johnnyjay.bsky.social · 08/10/20264am starts and/or finishes are worse than regular shifts, in my experience. An early shift of 7am or late shift finishing about 10-11pm isn't too bad. A full night is OK to if you are able to sleep during the day. You need a couple of days in between to adjust. We didn't always get that. 000

Johnny Jay @johnnyjay.bsky.social · 05/10/2026Not really a fan but she brought pleasure to many. Sad news. 000
Johnny Jay @johnnyjay.bsky.social · 05/10/2026I say the above as someone who has used computing since the seventies and who is still "au fait" with most of it BUT I like to be be able to choose how and when to use the technology. That's the biggest issue now. 010
Johnny Jay @johnnyjay.bsky.social · 05/10/2026Technology is fine but those who control it aren't. We are being forced to use it when there is no need. Our choice is being eroded. It should be a beneficial "aid" but it is being used to manipulate and control us. Also to cut costs and reduce staff. It excludes those of us to refuse to comply. 120
Johnny Jay @johnnyjay.bsky.social · 05/10/2026"English" is still a nationality even although citizenship is British. As regards ethnicity, it has always been multi racial and cultural. Even "Anglo -Saxon" is an ethnic mix! Also, if the other UK countries did become independent, she'd have no option but to call herself English! 120
Johnny Jay @johnnyjay.bsky.social · 05/10/2026My state pension is even less that £1000, Johnny Boy. 000
Johnny Jay @johnnyjay.bsky.social · 05/10/2026It's interesting that people always argue that the care system should be improved to take the strain of The NHS but the same applies the other way around. All the cost saving exercises like closing community hospitals, reduction in bed numbers have all exacerbated the situation. 010
Johnny Jay @johnnyjay.bsky.social · 05/10/2026All this nonsense about using newspaper. Yes, we had to do this when we were young but the fish and chips tasted terrible afterwards. 😒 030
Johnny Jay @johnnyjay.bsky.social · 04/10/2026"My door is always open" translates to "That means I'll see that you can leave as quickly as you came in" 000
Johnny Jay @johnnyjay.bsky.social · 04/10/2026Well, basically, I'm actually in favour of universal benefits. The same should apply to everything though. Also, the more money you have or earn, the more you should be taxed. That's fair. People are less likely to complain about being taxed if they benefit themselves. 2140
Johnny Jay @johnnyjay.bsky.social · 04/10/2026Of course, I forgot about that for a moment. Will it also include the don't knows" too though? 000
Johnny Jay @johnnyjay.bsky.social · 03/10/2026They've all gone up except The Tories who only lost 1%. How does that work? There are obviously fewer "don't knows"? 101
Johnny Jay @johnnyjay.bsky.social · 02/10/2026He's an eedjit too, of course, but I notice he's more to the fore and even Nigel's having to keep quieter. 020
Johnny Jay @johnnyjay.bsky.social · 02/10/2026He's either wondering which party to defect to next or he's been told to keep quiet. "Leave the talking to me, Lee" says Nigel or Richard." 150
Johnny Jay @johnnyjay.bsky.social · 29/09/2026Well, if they gave us a decent pension in the first place, there could be an argument for restructuring the criteria for increases. What's never mentioned is that only a minority qualify for the full pension of £12.5K anyway. 291
Johnny Jay @johnnyjay.bsky.social · 27/09/2026Real "dating" worked well enough without these daft apps too. You got to know people over a period of time and friendships, romances happened more naturally. Fair enough, you could still "cop off" with someone at a club etc but that was your choice too. 000
Johnny Jay @johnnyjay.bsky.social · 27/09/2026Dearie me, I never had to rent a student flat now share but what is wrong with good old fashioned face to face assessment, good character references, and actual meeting up with potential flat mates and tenants first? 100
Johnny Jay @johnnyjay.bsky.social · 27/09/2026When I was in an orthopaedic ward in 1969, there were two or three older men men who weren't able to be discharged and they spent the rest of their days there. Not ideal but there was a great rapport between them and the staff. that could never happen now. 000
Johnny Jay @johnnyjay.bsky.social · 27/09/2026The NHS were able to cope to large extent with elderly people who could not be immediately discharged when we had sufficiently well staffed community and cottage hospitals which acted as a half way house. There were plenty of beds in regular wards too. 100
Johnny Jay @johnnyjay.bsky.social · 27/09/2026Lots of "bad apples" since Brexit. In more ways was than one. 000
Johnny Jay @johnnyjay.bsky.social · 26/09/2026It's even too much for Sullivan by the looks of it.. 000
Johnny Jay @johnnyjay.bsky.social · 26/09/2026A waste of time and money too unless it was a special match and the gates were opened early. They would sell it at "rip off prices" too in plastic glasses. Not my idea of fun at at all. 030
Johnny Jay @johnnyjay.bsky.social · 22/09/2026Even pop and other recording artists need people to buy their music and go to concerts. If everyone was out there making music, there wouldn't be an audience! 000
Johnny Jay @johnnyjay.bsky.social · 22/09/2026It's like all this nonsense from so called "self made" wealthy and successful people. They miss the point that there were always be a limit to the number of people who can take advantage. Landlords need to rely on people actually renting the property, companies etc need people to buy their products. 100
Johnny Jay @johnnyjay.bsky.social · 16/09/2026Measles were not very nice for me either. I also caught mumps in my early twenties and there were complications. So, the MMR vaccine would have been welcome back then. 000
Johnny Jay @johnnyjay.bsky.social · 16/09/2026As long as they've been defeated..I was starting to worry about Sweden. 020
Johnny Jay @johnnyjay.bsky.social · 16/09/2026"Big winners"? We're just getting paid what we re due. Another year, we might get next to nothing. Also, September is invariably, he lowest inflation point of the next six months. It will inevitably rise much more than that before the actual pension rise. 010
Johnny Jay @johnnyjay.bsky.social · 11/09/2026She should be criticising the fact that private companies are making such a profit in providing the catering as opposed to the fact the children are getting fed. Yes, it's wrong that it costs more but it shouldn't. 000
Johnny Jay @johnnyjay.bsky.social · 09/09/2026"affordable healthy ready meals " There's no such thing as a healthy ready meal, affordable or not. 010
Johnny Jay @johnnyjay.bsky.social · 01/09/2026The photocopier was good place to meet as well although it got a bit risk at Christmas parties. Also, the water cooler. "After hours drinks" were only useful if your potential date went along there. 000
Johnny Jay @johnnyjay.bsky.social · 31/08/2026Exactly. It would just escape as and when the tyres became flat. 000
Johnny Jay @johnnyjay.bsky.social · 31/08/2026Are you sure it wasn't Grace Archer you heard about? 010
Johnny Jay @johnnyjay.bsky.social · 30/08/2026Of course, many of these Brexiteers promised that it could be possible to remain in the Single market, Customs Union and still have free movement even when we left the EU. What a lie that was! 0100
Johnny Jay @johnnyjay.bsky.social · 27/08/2026They actually get better benefits and housing in most European countries, if he only knew.. 110
Johnny Jay @johnnyjay.bsky.social · 25/08/2026Only useful if you severely restrict your content and only reply to "good" posts. FB is getting just as bad. We shouldn't have to opt out of things but, rather, choose for ourselves what we see. 000
