Sunday mess :)) ... playing with a Raspberry Pi5, a camera and a pan tilt. Hopefully i'll be able to sort them out and then build a bit of software to get something usefull out of this.

An email address doesn't always tell you someone's name. And "Thank you for your email" simply acknowledges another person's time and effort. Not every social courtesy is an obsolete convention. Sometimes, it's just basic human respect.

Kremlin propaganda portrays support for Ukraine as an elite project rejected by ordinary Europeans. Calling protests in different countries a “pan-European revolt” risks reinforcing that narrative.

Europe's future must be built on actions, not slogans. €115m adopted for defence innovation. Progress on EU Inc to help startups scale across borders. These are concrete steps, but delivery remains the real test. Europeans must shape Europe's future. 🇪🇺

You’re absolutely right, Brandon, and I see your point. Governments can play a crucial role. However, I’m a strong believer in scaling solutions from the bottom up. Citizens and businesses create demand, innovation gains momentum, and governments help accelerate what already works.

Europe must stop funding innovation only to watch its most promising startups scale elsewhere. We need European venture capital, simpler rules, faster public procurement and long-term investment in strategic technologies.

Elon Musk, a South African-born billionaire who reportedly worked illegally in the US, conveniently ignores one basic fact: Russia invaded Ukraine. Ukrainians are defending their homes, families, and sovereignty. Russian soldiers are the invaders. It's really not that complicated.

And the symbolism is extraordinary. While discussing peace, Putin praises a new Russian film called “Birth of an Empire” and proposes free screenings for students and pensioners. The Kremlin talks about peace while glorifying empire. Europe should pay attention.

Putin still calls occupied Ukrainian territory “historically Russian” and invokes dubious referendums and unspecified genetic studies to deny Ukrainian sovereignty. This is not a peace proposal. It is imperial ideology disguised as diplomacy.

Putin wants the “architecture of European security” discussed in negotiations with the US and Ukraine. Europe must be very careful. We cannot allow Washington and Moscow to negotiate the future of European nations over their heads. No new Yalta. No spheres of influence.

Greece just announced €12.75bn in UAE-linked agreements and plans for another €15bn in investment, including energy and infrastructure. Greece is attracting new partners and diversifying its economy while you argue for returning to Putin's cheap fuel. Perhaps Athens understands something you don't.

I wasn't bragging about personal wealth. I was referring to the EU's collective economic strength. Europe can afford to defend its principles while supporting struggling families. And Russia cannot supply enough diesel to solve this crisis. Returning to Putin's energy blackmail is no solution.
010 1
Johnny Bornea @johnny-bee.wsocial.eu · 23/10/2026
Who appointed you spokesperson for European families? Their financial struggles are real, but they don't justify financing Putin's war. You seem perfectly comfortable with a regime that kills Ukrainian children, as long as energy stays cheap.
100 1
Johnny Bornea @johnny-bee.wsocial.eu · 23/10/2026
Nobody is dismissing struggling families or small businesses. The EU is wealthy enough to support them while reducing dependence on Russian energy. Using their financial struggles to justify funding Putin's war is a false choice. Economic hardship matters. So do Ukrainian lives.

Those middlemen you worry about won't profit forever. Close the loopholes instead of abandoning sanctions. Affordability matters, but so do security and human lives. Neither Putin nor Trump will remain in power forever. Europe's energy independence must outlast them both.

I'm paying taxes in both the EU and the UK, and I'm happy to pay more. I'm rich. I can afford it and not shake hands with a criminal, as you suggest. Fuck Putin, mate.

Johnny Bornea @johnny-bee.wsocial.eu · 23/10/2026
Nobody said batteries refine diesel. They're part of Europe's energy strategy. If Russian oil reaches Europe via third countries, close those loopholes. You obsess over prices while ignoring the lives destroyed by Putin's war. Does money matter more than anything to you? Where are your principles?
100 1
Johnny Bornea @johnny-bee.wsocial.eu · 23/10/2026
Lifting sanctions to buy Russian diesel helps finance Putin's war economy. Trump has chosen to reward Putin, but that doesn't mean Europe should follow him into the same trap. European security, independence and moral principles are worth far more than a temporary discount on fuel.
100 1
Johnny Bornea @johnny-bee.wsocial.eu · 23/10/2026
Trump's initial 300,000 tonnes of Russian diesel wouldn't cover even ONE DAY of US transport diesel consumption. Even all three promised shipments would cover less than five days. The first tanker is heading to New York, not Europe. Your alleged "3x markup" has no evidence.

Looking for alternatives to Putin's "cheap" energy? Look at Bulgaria! With €700 million in EU support, it doubled battery storage power to around 6 GW in just one year, storing solar energy and exporting electricity to neighbours. That's European energy independence in action.
110 1
Johnny Bornea @johnny-bee.wsocial.eu · 23/10/2026
You don't solve energy blackmail by returning to the blackmailer. Putin's "cheap" energy came with a political price. Meanwhile, Trump's war in Iran has pushed diesel prices higher. Blaming EU sanctions for everything is Kremlin propaganda, not a serious energy policy.
100 1
Johnny Bornea @johnny-bee.wsocial.eu · 23/10/2026
The solution? Nuclear power, renewables, energy storage, and diversified supplies. The UK is expanding nuclear energy, Portugal is investing in renewables, and Romania's Black Sea gas project is on track for 2027. Energy independence requires investment, not surrender to Putin.
010 1
Johnny Bornea @johnny-bee.wsocial.eu · 23/10/2026
Trump's attempts to divide EU members are equally unacceptable. So is the attitude of Greek far-right Putin apologists. Greece benefited enormously from European solidarity during its debt crisis. The EU is more than a marketplace. Democracy, unity and moral principles matter.
110 1
Johnny Bornea @johnny-bee.wsocial.eu · 23/10/2026
Cheap energy is no bargain when the supplier uses it to blackmail Europe and finance aggression. Standing shoulder to shoulder with Putin for lower energy bills is not pragmatism. It's moral bankruptcy. European security, solidarity and values matter more than money.

Why do we call US citizens “Americans” as if they own an entire geographical identity? Canadians, Mexicans, Brazilians, Argentinians, and Peruvians are Americans too. The United States is a Federation of states in North America. It is not the Americas. “US citizens” is far more precise.

OK, I'll blame all USA citizens except you. I don't judge Americans only by how they voted. I also judge them by what they tolerate. Some elected Trump. Too many others carried on with their lives while people were shot by federal agents, and the consequences reached far beyond America's borders.
