Bit late, (haven't even read it myself yet) the latest edition of The Mountain Path: "A journal devoted to the life, teachings, and presence of Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi. Published since 1964 at the foot of sacred Arunachala."

"Torches" depicts the horror of war through the eyes of the Mahabharata. It describes animals and humans caught in a chaotic, fiery wasteland. As victims cling to loved ones, they are consumed by flames, becoming "living torches." Seriously powerful stuff! 🔥🔥🔥 #musicsky #KarlJenkins #AntiWar

"This Sun", by Japanese artist Imai Hisamaro, 1930

A vertical color graphic design piece from 1930 titled This Sun (Kono Taiyo) by the Japanese artist Imai Hisamaro captures a striking, avant-garde portrait that perfectly embodies early Showa-period modernism. The composition serves as a magnificent example of the dynamic intersection between traditional Japanese aesthetics and Western avant-garde art movements, such as Cubism and Art Deco.

The image is dominated by a highly stylized, closely cropped face of a woman, dramatically segmented by geometric lines and contrasting textures. The left side of her face is rendered with clean, minimalist planes, featuring a sweeping grey shadow that curves down the temple and jawline to meet a sharp, angular nose. Her single visible eye is large, expressive, and detailed with a touch of red in the corner, looking thoughtfully outward under a heavy, curved eyebrow. Her lips are painted a bold, vibrant coral-red, sharply defined against the muted tones of her skin.

The right third of the face is overlaid with a stark, vertical grid pattern of tiny mosaic squares in shades of cream, pink, and dark grey, mimicking a digitized or textile-like weave that cuts clean through the eye and lips. Her dark hair is styled in a sharp, modern bob that frames the face.

The lower portion of the artwork features a rich, deep teal-blue background. Written horizontally across the bottom-left is the title in a stylized, geometric Art Deco font reading この太陽 (Kono Taiyo). In the bottom-right corner, a small circular emblem enclosing a stylized red sun emblem anchors the design, showcasing the innovative spirit of 1930s Japanese visual culture and commercial graphic arts.

Anarchist minded, I'm not really into the ballot-box pantomime of the elite. But I imagine populist right supporters are already reevaluating their songs this morning after Andy Burnham's win. Luckily for them, the wanker one still works without ruining the flow; it's only an extra syllable.

Went to see Krishna last Sat. @ Grange Park Opera & loved it. The late Tavener described this piece as the most ecstatic he'd ever written. It was a first for me going anything like this. Explored his works prior to & ended up liking a lot of it. His music has an ethereal quality to it.

Cladonia #lichen. NWT, Canada. Lichen is about 1.5cm in longest dimension. #fungi #fungifriends

Photo of the top of a Cladonia lichen podetium…it looks like an oval bowl (light grey-green in colour) ringed with about two dozen tiny red blobs. Other similar lichen podetia are in the photo background.

Green Rock Posy Lichen (Rhizoplaca melanopthalm). NWT, Canada. Lichen is about 2cm, left to right. #lichen #fungi #fungifriends.

Photo of a light grey lichen growing on yellowish rock. The lichen is roundish and of a mound shape. The main body is comprised of convoluted folds and branches. Round discs of varying sizes (called apothecia) cover about 50% of the lichen.

In 1631, Robert Barker and Martin Lucas the royal printers in London, published a reprint of the King James Bible that mistakenly read, "Thou shalt commit adultery" in Exodus 20:14. It became known as The Wicked Bible. #RightRoyalCockUp #AdulterousBible #SinnersBible #OohErrMissus
