Mick Jagger is 83, Mitch McConnell is 84. The Benefits of a life of Sex, Drugs & Rock n Roll cannot be ignored. Though I'd like to point out I'm too young for all the benefits to be visible.

Like every British PM before him Andy Burnham is a Unionist, which is fair enough. But Michael Martin needs to be as upfront in expressing his desire for a United Ireland.

Shocked at the Parades Commission ruling. There's been no material change in the circumstances surrounding the march. The Commission made a procedural error which has led to this. The people behind this are just the worst - wanting to promote division and conflict. There'll be trouble ahead.

Afternoon drinking in a grubby London/Irish boozer. I haven't done it in well over thirty years. The memories of doing so are I have to say happy ones. Places like The Archway, The Half-Moon and The Swan. In the 80s most of my friends were in either in London or New York.

I came across this photo from the 80's of The Swan in Stockwell. Brings back memories. I had a friend Danny Fitzpatrick who lived not far from it. When I was in London we often drank there. Great spot.

The border was created in 1921 under the UK Parliament's Government of Ireland Act 1920, as part of the partition of Ireland — so its origin was a British legislative act, not an Irish one. So therefore it is the British border in Ireland, not the Irish border.

Kruger is just another in a long line of British politicians who show a profound ignorance about Ireland. The idea UK Immigration officers could check passengers in border towns like Derry, Strabane and Newry is laughable. It just wouldn't be tolerated. He needs to realise Derry isn't Dover.
