📉 Currently, data for real time prescription benefit (RTPB) tools are constrained in the PBM-insurer network. We compared savings through MCCPD to RTPBs studied by Desai et al. (JAMA IM, 2022). Savings through cost plus drugs was substantially greater.

When copays get high, the savings become massive. For prescriptions where insurance copays or coinsurance exceeded $100, the median price patients paid was $140. The median price for those exact same drugs through @costplusdrugs.com? Just $25.

"Does MCCPD even carry these drugs? What about shipping costs?" 97% of prescriptions were available via @costplusdrugs. Even after adding a $5.25 shipping fee—conservative since patients can bundle scripts— 80% of scripts with copays >$15 were cheaper through MCCPD.
