As a person who was born and lived in the south for most of my life, I have a right to be blase. US history is everyone enabling the south even now to make up for what shitholes those states are and how they mistreat their citizens. Tired of it.

I'm saying you can solve your problems yourselves instead of just begging for pity. I live in a southern state, we've turned it around, seems like Texas is trying to right now. But the south has been the south since the founding of the country and enabling has been the main method for handling it.

Read a book. Black people got the worst of it, but it is a system of government meant to keep any dissent down, minimize democracy through voter intimidation and violence and make sure those who want to effect change are sidelined and discredited or killed. This is all done to serve white supremacy.
