A Florida storm™️ is moving in and the pressure change was so dramatic the house shook and I felt my chest compress. That's not a usual occurrence.

If I were a CEO in the USA right now, I’d be moving my HQ and factories to a blue state ASAP. Red states voted for no FEMA for disaster recovery, but only blue states will be able to foot the bill. Red states will get the same FAFO experience that North Carolina has 'enjoyed.'

Gen X is about to punch our personal savings card with a fifth recession since graduating from high school and entering the workforce. That’s a punch card reward in Gen X terms. Do we get a free pizza?

Despite overwhelming scientific consensus on human-caused climate change, 123 members of the 118th U.S. Congress publicly denied it—all Republicans. I'm looking for a count of the current 119th Congress. Has anyone seen one?

Big news for transit in the Orlando region! The Central Florida Commuter Rail Commission approved a $6M study to explore the Sunshine Corridor — an east/west SunRail extension connecting the airport, the Convention Center, I-Drive, and Disney Springs. (a🧵)

Nature is interesting. We back a wooded swamp area, not uncommon in Central Florida, but this Red-Eared Slider (Trachemys scripta elegans), a freshwater turtle, has decided to lay her eggs in the middle of our backyard. Any turtle experts out there?

Today is National Something on a Stick Day, a food holiday encouraging creative culinary exploration with food on sticks, like skewers, corndogs, or kebabs. To celebrate, I'm going to have a martini for lunch with olives on a small stick.

Have you discussed your intent to commit war crimes with a journalist and then followed through on those crimes? If so, congratulations you've just won a free trip to The Hague! 👇

As laid out in this David Shor chart. The interests farther right had the biggest importance for voters. You can see the gap between trust in Democrats in interests we historically do well in, but haven't communicated that well to voters.

The economy, cost of living, government debt/taxes, inflation, crime, immigration, social security. These are all areas Dems have the facts on their side. What we lack is a candidate who can talk to LIV, meet them in their territory. (David Shor graph)

I just watched an 11-minute preview of season 3 of #WheelOfTime on YouTube. I will now have to live with my mistake until the season starts. Avoid living with a huge cliffhanger until March 13, by waiting a few weeks. I don't know how anyone could resist though. It's so good.

We just bought a copy of "Fourth Wing" by Rebecca Yarros and the printing alignment is so bad, the top margin is miniscule and the bottom huge. On some pages you can see the printer alignment. It's quite distracting to the eye. I should probably return it once more copies are in stock, right?

It's a three-cup-of-coffee kind of Monday. I'm a French press user, and it makes exactly three cups with 42 grams of beans. I grind them to order and enjoy the little ritual of steeping, then stirring and pressing the coffee. What does your morning coffee ritual look like?

Every local news channel has dozens of insurance denial stories they could run every year. They don't because to do so would upset the insurance and medical industries, who pay large sums to advertise every month. But wouldn't it be refreshing if this was the lead story.

Jobs numbers this morning look good at first glance, but when averaged out with the last few months, it's actually still a very small downtrend. October was impacted by storms and November also starts seasonal hiring. Not the best time to be job hunting.

Also the director, Jon Chu, understands how to film a musical. Chu's mix of close ups, trick shots, and wide shots fit well with the movie musical genre. A few of the practical effects didn't work well on camera, but otherwise perfect.

How can a movie be 2 hours and 40 minutes long—only part one of a two-part series—and still skip over important character development beats? It's a good question, but don’t let that stop you from seeing Wicked. The set design, acting, and singing are top notch. 👇
