We already have a pretty big-sized expat community living in the Philippines, for example. For various reasons and not just the one you're thinking about But the common thread throughout it all is lower rent. Everywhere and always in SE Asia, as far as the eye can see. People meeting people.

We could expand the possibilities of housing in truly exciting ways with a UBI. The collection of countries we can go to for cheaper will become sort of an informal "country" in and of itself. Take tours of this collection and if we really like a place, we can stay there and wait for the next tour

And yet, the rise of automation requires a UBI. A UBI requires massive public spending outlays, which will require the embracing of successful Pentagon audits AND Modern Monetary Theory. We should have agreements with such low-cost countries about Americans looking for cheaper housing.

Asian food is high in good fats and protein. Then, they intentionally eat a third of their plate as pure carbohydrate...rice. The Vietnamese use this stuff called fish sauce to compliment the rice and boiled veggies. They could conceivably live off the protein in it. Rice, veggies and fish. 👍
