This face looks more like a Soviet era portrait and it made me think of "Animal Farm" "No question, now, what had happened to the faces of the pigs. The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which."

I am sorting out book shelves at home - so I can fit more in - and I found two of these. One I will give to someone. Which one would you choose to donate and which to keep? Answers on a "postcard" to...
Two copies of "A Monster Calls" by Patrick Ness with different covers.

Needed to write an equation (or eight) so just refreshed my knowledge of LaTeX and KaTeX Which equations I am writing from these: $$ \oint_S \overrightarrow{E} \cdot \hat{n} da = \frac{q_{enc}}{\epsilon _0} $$ and $$ \nabla \cdot \overrightarrow{E} = \frac{\rho}{\epsilon _0} $$

My mother found in her nineties holding a book tiring so we (my sister and I) bought her audiobooks on CD so she could play them. She didn't finish Middlemarch by George Eliot before she died sadly but she was a good way through it.

Isn't the legal speed limit the EU limit of 25 kmph converted into mph for the British?

When it came out I was in college and four of us went to the local flea pit that didn't chuck you out and watched that film four times in a row and laughed at different jokes each time.

Is it a measure of future inflation from 47's tariff policies?

Interesting that the line "reward for failure" is in both papers - who is feeding the talking points to them?

Well they will not be quoted widely if they are behind a pay wall so that is good.

Can you tell it is a vegan Christmastide here in our home in Germany?
Vegan Elise Lebkuchen, Biscoff biscuits and a cup of black coffee on a wooden tray.

Just received a secondhand copy of a biography of Charles Ives and it came with someone else's tags in it. So hours of joy finding out why the previous owner put the tags in those locations.
A secondhand book arrived with someone else's tags in.

As a retired teacher of mathematics - my career was as a STEM communicator and mild comedian LOL. Not tried being an author except my reading diary and little or no experience as a businessperson.

I remember going into Virgin Records in 1984 and finding two Minor Threat records and buying them and playing them to death. I later listened to Fugazi and stayed at the Dischord House.

I remember in 1981 going into the record shop to collect the first EP of Blitz entitled "All Out Attack" and there was a huge queue for the Soft Cell single "Tainted Love" - as everyone used the record shop then.

I was giving a lift to work colleague in the early 90s and he asked what music I listened to and I had a mixed tape of Ministry and Big Black and I described it as "my dance music" - he was shocked LOL but to me this is very danceable.

My sister still has DR on all her because it solves the Miss, Mrs or Ms problem. She is a retired academic. She has to explain that she isn't a medical doctor occasionally. My mother-in-law was technically Polish aristocracy but never used her title but did use her Doctorate.

We frequented Leeds Art Gallery so I probably saw the same one. BTW I think Andrew Lloyd Webber who likes and bought a lot of Victorian paintings in the sixties when they weren't popular and were cheap has quite a few Grimshaws. I saw an exhibition about twenty years ago in the RA.

I have often thought of visiting the locations and taking modern photos of the views painted. I think he used a camera obscura like Vermeer did.

I love Grimshaw's art - His evening views of many northern English towns and cities are nostalgic to me as I know many of these places from my youth. My mother had a Grimshaw up in the living room of her home town.

Belize came into existence as Belize rather than British Honduras in 1981, I think. There are some things that seem anachronistic on the map. But I am not sure what the purpose is if this map so some might not be significant to the map maker nor its intended audience.

I had made it dual boot with Linux and regularly needed to go in via Linux to fix problems. Eventually I had had enough and pulled all the files through to the Linux partition and forget Windows Me.

Growing up we never had turkey as my father didn't like poultry and my mother preferred chicken. The other thing about festive meals is for twenty years my mother put icing on Christmas cake and everyone left it on the plate. Finally she made one without icing and it was gobbled up.

When my mother was alive and making a "state visit" to my house I always left one part "dirty" like a non-spotless toilet and that would always be the focus of her conversation for WEEKS afterwards LOL

As long as it isn't the Jasper Carrot version of the Magic Roundabout with the classic lines: `Some lady!` ,said Dougal. `Oh, p*ss off` ,said Dillon. And Dougal did so, all over Florence.

She is truly horrendous and creates in me the classic dilemma of a morally repugnant person whose writing I like. Her novels are now relegated to the back of a little used shelf and I will not be rereading her works.

I realise that I am reluctant to share even on here. I was caught in the Facebook Cambridge Analytica data scraping when someone else allowed their profile to be scraped. The "other place" became a cesspool - and toxic. It may take time to trust again.
