I read somewhere that the best starting word statistically is SOARE. That's not my word (which I can say tomorrow to avoid spoilers for anyone who wants to do today's puzzle) but my word is *pretty* good.

Interesting piece! Off-topic a bit, but do you think smart glasses will help with the cue card issue? Having an augmented reality script projected into the performer's field of view, rather than having to continually look off-stage?

How lovely of you to ask! They choose their names from an atlas Bulgaria owns. In the second book, the burrow is falling apart and so they meet foreign wombles, also named after places (apart from the MacWomble), so presumably it's a womble thing. So there *could* be a womble called Index or p24.

I can talk for a long time about the Wombles & their lore. (Eg. The Wimbledon Common burrow is destroyed at the end of the second book.) Showing restraint about this isn't what a 57-year old man should be congratulating himself about. But I'm waiting for the call to produce the Tolkienesque reboot.

Haven't seen that film - one for my list! By "Cornelius", I meant Ian Holm's character in TFE. Bruce Willis's character seems to resolve everything because he's the highest-paid actor, rather than involved in the story. The Incal is the main influence on TFE, I think. I'd recommend the Adele film!

Have you read The Incal/Airtight Garage, by the way? My main issue with the film is that Cornelius should clearly be the main protagonist: he meets the villain, he knows what's going on, and he's motivated to do something about it. Plus, being aromantic, I'm not certain love *is* the solution.
