Whole lot of "spent so much time thinking you could instead of thinking whether you should" energy these days. Also how sick of a year was 93?

Based on the ladder design alone, my expert opinion is we should be looking for this man:
Val Kilmer with an epic mustache in "The Saint" which is a not-good movie I loved when I was a child.

Reading an interesting biography of Charles Sumner and its wild that he basically looks like Tom Baker in Dr Who
Doctor Who actor Thomas Baker who dresses in eccentric plaids and stripes not unlike U.S. statesman Charles Sumner.

He might be a weirdo now but Giorgio Agamben's "The State of Exception" remains an excellent essay for helping folks grasp the larger field of play regarding government-led chaos and power consolidation.

This MLK remark, delivered in Worcester MA, really stings as it remains extremely relevant. Thanks to Worcester Sucks (and I love it) for the great commentary as always:
Quotation from a speech given by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in Worcester MA. It is quoted in the Worcester Sucks and I love it newsletter from today.

The quotation reads: "Now, it is one thing to look to the south, and it is one thing to say that the problem is centered in the South, but one day we must come to see that this problem is not a sectional problem, but it is a national problem and people all over the nation must take a stand. And what we too often find in the north is a sort of quasi-liberalism based on the principle of looking sympathetically at all sides. And it is a liberalism that gets so involved in looking at all sides that it doesn't get committed to either side is a liberalism that is so objectively analytical that it fails to get subjectively committed. It's a liberalism that is neither hot nor cold, but lukewarm."

Just started this text and boy howdy is it a good one so far. Aristotelians, Thomists, McIntyre-ians?--y'all will love it. Any philosophy profs interested in something that can connect to climate change and value fields, this looks to be a good one.

The bicycle still got me to the station on time even when the train equipment faltered in the cold. But the real champion is this guy:
A true American hero, this is the mighty Stanley coffee thermos. It is green like the Statue of Liberty and chromed stainless steel. It’ll keep your coffee warm on Hoth and also Boston.

This might be sentimental but I truly find it to be a gift that I get to ride through a city I love as I make my way to and from work. Yes, it’s 1.5hrs on commuter rail to get there each way and it’s certainly not perfect, but even on days like this, it’s still a gift.

Also you can make up categories. Sorry Kant.

I'm sure other folks in academia have that one weird little thing that is the equivalent of seeing a cybertruck in the wild first thing in the morning. For me it is this:

Today I am 40. This might be small but one of my dreams was to live somewhere where I could get around using just my feet, my bike, and a train. This is from my morning ride as I leave BC and head towards Bunker Hill. It is small, but it is beautiful and a reminder that another world is possible.
