Even on a non-match day in Vancouver today, there’s plenty of buzz on Granville. Vendors, patios, families, food… there’s an opportunity here. And just having visited France and enjoying areas that are just like this all the time, now’s the time to seriously think about making this permanent.
Looking north down Granville Street in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada during the 2026 World Cup where the street is closed for the duration of the tournament. Patios line each side of the street with red and white streamers crossing the street overhead with tall buildings on each side. It’s a hot sunny Sunday afternoon during the Netherlands and Japan match as crowds go up and down the pedestrian only zone fur the duration of the tournament.

Last week, we traveled to Whitehorse, Yukon to celebrate our 20th anniversary of getting married, and it was amazing. We chased the aurora, explored the town, and enjoyed the brutal beauty of subarctic Canada. I can’t imagine life without @miss604.com & am grateful for the one we’ve lived so far ❤️
Rebecca (right) and I (left) stand on the banks of a frozen Yukon River at the S.S. Klondike Historic Site in Whitehouse, Yukon. The flat, snow behind us is the frozen river with the sides of the river valley behind and a mountain further off in the distance. The sky is mostly blue and clear.

A clear, cold walk in the park was a great way to help clear the head this morning #vancouver #stanleypark
Looking north from the south end of Third Beach in Vancouver’s Stanley Park. The concrete, stone, and beach are coated in a layer of frost from below freezing temperatures overnight. A fallen tree trunk has a drawing of a mushroom where it was cut. Plant life and frost surround it. Tall trees line a trail in Vancouver’s Stanley Park. Mid-morning sun cuts in from the right, causing the trees to cast shadows over the trail. Sunlight warms an unmarked trail in Vancouver’s Stanley Park with a moss covered, low tree branch arching over the trail.

In #StanleyParkVancouver, a zombie tree was felled on the South Creek Trail, and someone did the work to calculate its age. 1625 A.D. We walked by this thick, branch-less trunk many times and noticed how much it was beginning to lean as of late. Now it will nurse new life for years to come.
@miss604.com is walking up the gravel South Creek Trail in Stanley Park Road, Vancouver, B.C. A recently fallen tree trunk is laying just off the right of the trail and is taller than Rebecca. A green and lush forest surrounds the background. @miss604.com is on the gravel South Creek Trail in Stanley Park Road, Vancouver, B.C. Why yes, I’m randomly watching St. George Willawong vs Sunshine Coast of the NPL Queensland. In fact, with 500+ viewers, I think there are more people watching on YouTube than at the match. Trees on one end, turf that’s seen better days, no announcers, and just one camera that zooms and pans. 😍
A screenshot of a YouTube stream of a football (soccer) match somewhere in Queensland, Australia between St. George Willawong vs Sunshine Coast. Looking down the center line, the stadium is quite small with fairly chewed up turf. There are only three or four bleachers on each side of team’s benches on each side of the center line with only a handful of spectators on each of the bleachers.

Ready for this cold snap to be over and have the rain return, but it’s hard to not enjoy a snowy walk in #StanleyPark
Looking down Lees Trail that leads back to Rawlings Trail and towards Third Beach in Stanley Park in Vancouver, B.C. The rocky path is less snow covered than the sides that line it. Tall trees rise high into the air all around the trail. A large (most likely) Douglas Fir tree lays across a snow covered Lees Trail in Stanley Park where it has fallen very recently. A city of Vancouver barricade sits just in front of it to warn trail walkers that the trail is impassable at this point but the thickness of the tree and being snow covered make it impassable. Other tall trees surround the area. From top of the stairs at Third Beach in Stanley Park, Vancouver, B.C., a single palm tree sits in the foreground on the left with the snow covered concession patio on the right. Third Beach sits below with the waters of the Burrard Inlet, West Vancouver, and Bowen Island off in the distance.

Just sent @miss604.com out the door to cover the opening ceremonies of the #InvictusGames2025. Which I also passed by the #Van2010 cauldron yesterday that was lit in anticipation for today. Little, exciting hints of Olympic memories all around downtown, especially team jackets!
A landscape photo in Jack Poole Plaza, Vancouver, B.C. of a lit Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics cauldron in the immediate background with the Invictus Games logo constructed in the foreground. The flags of Canada and British Columbia sit under and just in front of the cauldron. The frosted north shore mountains sit of in the distance across Burrard Inlet with a blue sky partially obscured by wispy, white clouds on a cold, winter day in February. Decided to go for a walk after work today
A landscape photo from downtown Vancouver, B.C. that looks across the Burrard Inlet and taken between Canada Place on the right and the Vancouver Convention Centre on the left. The sky is blue with wispy clouds and the mountains on the North Shore are powdered with snow in the distance.

A little blurry because I wasn’t wearing a warm enough coat to really pop out for a quick photo in the frigid January night, but you sure are a beautiful city, Victoria. Always a pleasure to come over, even if it is to do some work. #yyj

Sailing through Active Pass will forever make me feel like a kid, running to the front of the boat to see the vessel pass by going the other direction. #BCFerries

Weekend photo dump in black and white because why not? #vancouver
View of downtown Vancouver taken from the seawall in Stanley Park. Ocean water in the bottom of the photo leads out towards the Chevron gas station island and eventually the Vancouver Convention Centre with the high rise buildings of the downtown core. The sky above is bright and cloudy with the look of rain about to start. A view from the Coal Harbour side at the start of the Stanley Park seawall. In the near foreground is concrete railing with sea water and the Coal Harbour marina. An 8 person scull sits in the ocean with a coach speaking instructions from a nearby motorboat. Larger boats line each side of the water with the sails of Canada Place in the background. A black and white landscape photo with the Barrard Inlet in the bottom foreground, the city of North Vancouver sloping up from the ocean with a snowy Mount Seymour rising behind it, and ominous clouds above that are ready to drop more snow into the mountains. A wide angle black and white photo from inside of a False Creek Ferry boat about half way on its route to Granville Island in Vancouver, Canada. Sailboats are docked on the off to the left while Granville Bridge spans across False Creek about 100 meter in the background. The sky is cloudy and ready to rain.

Jokes on you, scammer! Canada Post has been on stike since last week! Plus, I never ordered nor am I expecting anything in the mail, so there's that, too. Don't fall for these things! #phish #phishing

I’ve been watching Jim Ward perform on a stage since seeing him with his first band at the Bowery Ballroom during CMJ Music Marathon 1999 in NYC that blew my face off. Seeing a three piece Sparta last night at The Pearl was outstanding. Love seeing Jim doing the thing he loves to do #rockandroll

Bluesky now has over 10 million users, and I was #87,526! And I know I should be using this more but keep forgetting it's here. Also, I get SSL errors on the web and the app a lot. Not sure if that's a me problem but odd.
