Seems like whenever my Xbox series x has been (and finished) downloading a new game my BT smart hub decides I’m using too much bandwidth and throttles the fuck out of my net access until I restart it. Bag of shite.

John B @johnbbeta.bsky.social · 19/12/2024

Our local Evri guy is great too. We must be the lucky ones judging by the comments I usually see. UPS is most unreliable in my area - but I don’t blame the drivers - their tracking system seems generally shite

Big day for me tomorrow - I’ve got an all-day 8 hour slot on the ‘Front Page’ on Twitch! I’ve set up loads of brand new Christmas themed visuals that make it look like I’m DJing in wierd wonderful Xmas rave locations & im playing an 8 hour Drum & Bass set. Hoping the channel sees some growth…

I’m in Berlin where there’s a long history of radical, arty, challenging graffiti. But this evening I found some I can really relate to…

Can any coffee nerds out there explain to me why I prefer Tescos house blend beans (probably old too) vs posh freshly roasted ones? ‘Nice’ beans always taste kinda lemonny to me - don’t think I’m making it too wrong - it’s the same when I get an espresso from somewhere good :-/

Yep. I ordered a bambino plus recently and tried it for a week but sent it back. Very good and is definitely the best choice at that price - but I still love my gaggia classic, nice for the lungos I prefer. Sage felt a bit plasticcy in comparison. Got the gaggia serviced now it’s good as new. ☕️

John B @johnbbeta.bsky.social · 16/12/2024

Went with a baratza ESP. Close second (and more expensive) would have been the DF54 - they seemed to be preferred slightly by reviewers. V impressed with the Baratza! But I’m not a hardcore espresso nerd so maybe more easily pleased :-)

Wife got me the coffee grinder I exhaustively researched and gave it to me early so I could get cracking - absolutely love it so far & feel like I've already worked out how to get the beans I like ground to the right size for the style of (weird) coffee I like!

I STILL haven’t seen lighthouse or the Witch even though I know they’re brilliant. The trailer looked so fabulously dark and atmospheric I really can’t wait for nosferatu 🦇

Watched ‘I saw the TV glow’ with Magda when we got back from the gig yesterday - so glad we did - what a great movie. Taking Mum out this morning for Christmas shopping & coffee then I’ve got LOADS to do for my new release, lyric video needs finishing then starting the proper one. Missions ✊

HAPPY THANKSGIVING FROM YOUR FRIEND JOHN B 🇺🇸

Wife was travelling same day and we got her an alt flight out of STN, said security was 'elevated' and all electronics had to come out of bags at security, notably hair straighteners (might have just been to her not 100% sure). I guess we will never know but feel like info being supressed a bit...

000

Was it something they found in their carry on going through security or did they just leave bag unattended? Either way what was the item they found and if it was serious enough to shut down the airport how come they were released?

100

Does anybody know what actually happened at Gatwick last week? All I can see is 820am 'discovery of a suspected prohibited item'. 1050am terminal evacuated. Resolved at 250pm (what happened inbetween?). 2 people arrested but then allowed to carry on journey. Very strange.

Up till 0030 editing video arghhhh. Lookin good though.

020

Ah that’s perfect vid to watch thanks. I’ve enjoying coffee kev lately too. Though I’m not quite their target market being a very pedestrian smooth lungo enjoyer rather than espresso officionado lol

John B @johnbbeta.bsky.social · 27/11/2024

I mainly drink lungo/cafe crème style long blacks so I’m not gonna be going that deep (v happy with Tesco house blend pre-ground coffee!) but I’ll probably get a decent grinder so I can have more fresh. The sage ones look good enough probably. Recommendations for good value/cheap one?

Yikes - chill! I've ordered a Sage bambino plus so I can stick with a solid but good value manual. Will get the Gaggia serviced and ebay it. Decided bean to cup at the cheaper end not 4 me, machine too big, extra maintenance, and if I want freshly ground beans I'm better off grinding myself.

200

I'm cool with my ususal tesco house blend lol which is why im not aiming to spend much on a posh new machine when I've accepted I have pretty pedestrian tastes hahah

100

Thanks - I was looking at that delonghi as it’s pretty much the cheapest bean to cup one out there - looks perfectly fine for me. Great to hear the coffee ends up same as with something posher ☕️

John B @johnbbeta.bsky.social · 25/11/2024

Thanks - but those are all too high end for me and they’re manual ones too. I love his stuff though - coffee Don

000

Any coffee nerds out there able to save me hours of research. Think it’s time to retire my gaggia classic… What’s the best value/quality bean to cup machine for someone who doesn’t care about the milk stuff - I only drink espresso & lungos!

Took my Dad to see the Stevie Hyper D documentary last night to a sold out showing in Maidenhead - looks like they’ve added even more showings too now! So good to see the support and such a good vibe in there, very special to see the love in the room for his legacy and jungle music too. ❤️🙌
