J Kelly @john63kelly.bsky.social · 23/09/2026#NowPlaying Not exactly a left field choice to celebrate his 100th, but it is magnificent, and I can’t listen to it too often. 050
J Kelly @john63kelly.bsky.social · 23/09/2026#NowPlaying Two thirds of est plus Bugge Wesseltoft. Jazz piano trio with occasional synths and rockier moments. I like it. 000
J Kelly @john63kelly.bsky.social · 22/09/2026Saw this yesterday. Excellent, I thought. Scott and Fraser both very good. A film for grownups, in amongst all the super heroes. 020

J Kelly @john63kelly.bsky.social · 19/09/2026Watching season 2 of Berlin Station, in which the CIA tries to stop the rise of a far-right party in Germany. How quaint. It’s from 2017. Seems like a lifetime ago. 000
J Kelly @john63kelly.bsky.social · 19/09/2026#NowWatching Very odd, surreal drama from 1968. Paul Jones is very good in it. Music by Pink Floyd and with an appearance by Arthur Brown and his flaming headgear. www.imdb.com/title/tt0062...imdb.com 100
J Kelly @john63kelly.bsky.social · 18/09/2026Bought this today. It’s a rather odd mag. I don’t really want four pages on Earth, Wind & Fire or Todd Rundgren, or whoever, just because members of KC are fans of those acts. 031
J Kelly @john63kelly.bsky.social · 16/09/2026Just been reading that Marcus Miller has been touring Europe and the US this summer with a ‘We Want Miles’ band featuring Mike Stern, Bill Evans and Mino Cinelu. I’m really hoping this didn’t visit the UK because if I missed it I’m kicking myself. Love that era of Miles. 010

J Kelly @john63kelly.bsky.social · 08/09/2026#NowPlaying Always liked est, but never saw them live, unfortunately . I have, though, booked to see Dan and Magnus in November. 110
J Kelly @john63kelly.bsky.social · 08/09/2026#NowPlaying This is quite agreeable, but if you’d played it to me blind I would be unlikely to have guessed it spawned Caravan and Soft Machine. 120
J Kelly @john63kelly.bsky.social · 03/09/2026The new Blue Note club in London has just announced some upcoming gigs, but I haven’t heard of any of the artists at all. I suspect their target market is not ageing jazz fans like me, but a rather younger clientele. The acts are Corto.Alto, Slum Village, Sampa the Great, and Digible Planets. 230
J Kelly @john63kelly.bsky.social · 30/08/2026Just finished Star City. Really enjoyed it, bar the last episode, parts of which rather let the side down. Anna Maxwell Martin is fantastic in it. A monster indeed, as she is called by Rhys Ifans’ character. 120
J Kelly @john63kelly.bsky.social · 30/08/2026This three part series on iPlayer is well worth watching. Fascinating character. J Kelly @john63kelly.bsky.social · 28/08/2026Been shopping in Notting Hill. I think they must have recently bought a collection of prog CDs. They even now have a Canterbury section, from where I bought several Kevin Ayers albums, as you can see. And before today I owned no ELP so this is dipping my toe in the water. 290

J Kelly @john63kelly.bsky.social · 26/08/2026#NowPlaying Possibly my least favourite Gabriel-era album (honestly, not just being contrary) but it still has its highlights. 010
J Kelly @john63kelly.bsky.social · 24/08/2026#NowPlaying After Kevin Ayers I’m staying in Canterbury with this double CD Caravan compilation from 2000. A good cross section of their heyday albums, plus a couple of unreleased tracks. Remastered, and some of it remixed, it sounds great. 140

J Kelly @john63kelly.bsky.social · 17/08/2026Always fun to look at gig adverts in old magazines, but also rather frustrating in the sense of “How did I not go to that?” Here’s a case in point, from 1999. Sounds fascinating. Did anyone attend? 110
