I did not manage to get much Autumn colour on my trip up to Perthshire the other day, but I did manage to catch a nice sunset at Queens View.

The little lighthouse beneath the Forth Bridge has a remarkable history. It stands on the only surviving pier of Sir Thomas Bouch’s original Forth Bridge design.

One of those Scottish mornings when the weather does all the work. The Bass Rock sitting quietly offshore beneath a heavy blanket of cloud, while a little golden light managed to find its way through on the horizon.

The Knife Angel isn't simply about knives. It was created as the National Monument Against Violence and Aggression — a memorial to people who have lost their lives through violence, but also a powerful attempt to educate young people about the consequences of carrying weapons.

Last week I shared a pic of the Forth Bridge with this same cruise ship beneath it. A few days later, the ship was back — and this time I had the opportunity to photograph it from above. It's amazing how different the Forth can look from one visit to the next.

MEET TINDERELLA 🧜‍♀️ She apparently arrived in Pittenweem uninvited during the Arts Festival and decided she rather liked it there. Created by Scottish metal artist Kev Paxton of ArtFe, Tinderella now spends her days perched among the rocks overlooking the Firth of Forth.

The Buck Moon over Edinburgh at dawn fades gently behind the castle as the first light of the day illuminates the city. One of those moments where planning and luck come together.

Loch Stack. The island in the middle is simply known as Ylen Loch Stack (from the Gaelic Eilean Loch Stack, meaning “Island of Loch Stack”).

There are some places in Scotland that never leave you. For me, Assynt is one of them. Standing there at sunset watching the light change as I took this shot was magical.

I spotted this organ grinder sitting in the shade during a market in Provence. The light, the expression, the cigarette, the weathered instrument and that magnificent moustache all came together for one of my favourite portraits from the trip.

The Japanese Garden at Cowden. The weather in Scotland was good last week so I booked a visit to the Japanese Garden for Friday. Unfortunately things didn’t go to plan and it was grey and overcast. So reflecting the grey theme I went for black and white images.

One of the things I love about Skye is that the landscape never looks quite the same twice. I've photographed Loch Fada and the Storr in rain, mist, snow and sunshine, but every visit feels different.

There’s something about Bauchaille Etive Mòr in the dim morning light when the world is still quiet, the colours drained, and it is all about the day ahead, and the company you keep. A small light in a vast landscape.

Scotland is waking up to the devastating news that the Forth Bridge has been stolen. I heard it on the radio and had to run along to see it for myself. The radio said they were following a positive line of enquiry with a local company that uses girders to make soft drinks.
