It's become clear that intelligence is an evolutionary cul-de-sac. I'm dumbing down as fast as I can. I'm already halfway there. Survival of the thickest. Thanks for your help in this matter.

Guess he doesn't believe in microscopes either then. Which is really weird, cos you can see them easily.

Worse, the small boats began when the Tories were in power, soon after Brexit. Which was also brought upon us by the Tories. Perhaps they're unembarrassable.

To be fair, with that consistent track record of lies and perjury he could be described as irrepressible. Irrepressibly devious and dishonest.

Has Jeremy not seen the graphs that show '76 as an outlier at the time, and 2026 as just another step in the steadily increasing temperatures of the last decade or more? Unlike him, I was farming in '76. What we have now is not like '76! There's no 'going back to normal'!

I spent a week under it. Ran aground on a falling tide and it was a week till there was enough water to float free again. Each day on its side and back up, each night move the mattress onto the wall and sleep again until till tipped out. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Not much for me!

To the extent you allocate moral agency to a machine, you remove liability from the machine's creators. Wasn't me sir, it was the machine what did it.

Well, clearly you deserve to be ostracised and constrained in your rights for choosing the wrong ancestors. That's how it works isn't it?
020
John Pedersen @john-pedersen.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
It really is loathsome to me. Where someone is born and who their ancestors were are not options anyone can choose, and judging them on that and making assumptions about their values based on that is madness. As useless as astrology or phrenology. Throw it in the bin.

You'd think so, but someone I knew very well had to be restrained on their death bed due to lashing out at carers - Philippino and Indian. He died a racist. Oddly, the same man briefly stopped being racist after a stent was put into an artery leading to his brain. That lasted 2-3 weeks anyway.

I miss the dark ages. When men were men, if they survived to their twenties. Burying dead children was a steady job back in those days. What's happened to all those jobs now? I blame the Angles, and the Saxons, and the Romans, coming over here...

Well, that's not helpful! If you were fat and lazy, would you need telling? You'd probably be the first to know! I guess some people need others they can look down on, and they'll find a reason to do that. No logic. No empathy. It's a bit sad.

Good article. Thanks. I have given up on apples and am propagating pomegranates and apricots instead. I'll look into pistachios. Driving past fields of sunflowers and maize that looked hardly worth harvesting, dead trees and brown landscapes I .think this should be at the top of the agenda.

I have an orchard here in Correze. It hasn't rained here since the end of March. Been up to 42 degrees. Obviously, no fruit this year. When I bought the land, I checked the weather data for the previous 25 years. Even amount of rain through the year... That's long gone.

Or, 'just try harder. '! I think some people regard disability as a moral failure. You're just not trying hard enough. You're not pulling your weight. I'm usually very active but spent a winter on the sofa exhausted with anaemia. It was an eye opener for me.

I'm a bit short of teeth too. On account of my dentist buggering off back to Poland when he concluded Brexit was going to happen. So you can't blame them for the lack of teeth. Lots of dentists went home. Unless they voted for Brexit maybe?

To be honest, they looked better with the masks on. With the masks on, they were only threatening. Without the masks, you can see the threat is built on ugly anger and stupidity.

Good. Now arrest those who were with him for conspiracy, and then arrest those who tried to set fire to a hotel for arson. And then proscribe the group as a terrorist organisation. Which is what you are if you use violence for political ends. www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026...

If the report contained information relating to political enemies, you'd understand the intelligence services wanting to suppress some of the information. But here, the 'enemy' is the climate, which won't take advantage of the revealed information. Publish it fully, of course!

It's strange she would use the term 'ice age' and refer to the warm period in Roman times as arguments against current climate change. She apparently trusts climatologists enough to accept historical changes as fact but denies their ability to recognise today's issues.

And he described himself in the interview as a 'wealth creator'. No push back! He has accumulated a percentage of the wealth created by many real workers, who created real stuff of value. Then he's buggered off to Monaco to avoid paying tax on it. A wealth extractor. An odious parasite.

Bridgetown no longer counts. It's becoming part of Torbay. We'll put the border down the river Dart. Passport control on the bridge. And it'll all pay for itself with tariffs.

£72 million from 2 individuals - both of whom have faced questions about money laundering, both of whom live/d overseas to avoid tax - is not compatible with democracy. I don't care if it's Reform, Labour or whoever. We can't function like this. Not for long. So how do we fix it? My plan:

For chrissake - don't anyone mention to them that it was Arabs in Baghdad who developed algebra as a separate study to geometry. There was a House of Wisdom there around 800 BC. It was them. Probably bombed now, using coordinates calculated with a bit of algebra (and geometry).

Intimidating? Of course! The whole point of the masks is to provide anonymity, and to give license to these thugs to act outside of legal and normal moral constraints. Intimidation by denying culpability is the point.

Imagine being that distant from the inter-connectedness of nature and so immune to its wonder that the hunted-for species are reduced to targets, and anything reducing the availability of targets is wiped out. Like a soulless video game.

It's funny those men in black have been labelled thugs. That's a word of Hindi origins, that migrated from India in the days of empire. Some of them might live in bungalows, use shampoo, sleep in cotton sheets on a mattress. And I expect, they think these things are English.

And strange to me, that rights and constraints are also applied depending on the place of birth, which side of an imaginary line. Two people can be born a mile apart, and may never meet because at least one of them was born on the wrong side of a border.
