That's not what happened. They used an AI simulation to depict him as a forgiving person to nonetheless convince the judge to give him a harsher sentence, which he did. It was all within a fairly narrow range, but the judge actually gave a harsher sentence than the prosecutor requested.

I'm sure they all know that Roe was overturned by Republican SCOTUS justices. It's possible to know exactly what happened without being able to pull a specific case name within a couple of seconds.

I agree it's surprising, although I don't think the name Dobbs has entered the consciousness the way that Roe, Miranda, Brown etc have. Also a relative rarity that there were no lawyers on the stage (and one Canadian).

If nothing else, I wish Ford had waited until after Nixon was indicted and the Burger Court swatted down his frivolous immunity argument 9-0. Had that happened, there probably only would have been three or four votes from the Roberts Court to let Trump off the hook.

Yep. I was at the game Friday and even with the C+ performance it was a joyful atmosphere. Amazing that fans of other schools think they can get under my skin by suggesting that Cig will only win the same number of championships at IU that Lou Holtz won at ND and Bob Stoops won at OU.

I have four sons. At least in their circles, their sense of propriety re trying to date girls more than a year younger, harassment, etc., is much better than in my youth. But part of the reason it's better is because of pushback against comments like Arch's. Get his ass.

Indiana's summary judgment response deadline is similarly draconian. Courts have no authority to grant an extension if requested after the deadline passes. And there's even a case where opposing counsel agreed to the extension but the non-moving party didn't file on time. Still out of luck.

Also worth noting that Obama supported civil unions that were marriage in all but name, while the Republicans advocated for state and federal constitutional amendments banning gay marriage and civil unions. I mean, sure, he was fibbing, but his public positions on gay rights were left of center.
