King’s Lynn was once Bishop’s Lynn - Henry VIII renamed it after taking the town from the Church in 1537. This view spans the Great Ouse, with West Lynn in the foreground and the historic port, docks and town beyond. #KingsLynn #Norfolk #AerialPhotography

Scroby Sands, off Great Yarmouth, is a highly mobile sandbank reshaped by tides and storms; it has long been a haul-out for seals and a hazard to shipping. #ScrobySands #GreatYarmouth #AerialPhotography

Built from nothing on a shepherds’ summer plateau in 1946, Courchevel 1850 was conceived as a revolutionary “skiable city”. Today it’s the historic heart of Courchevel and a gateway to Les 3 Vallées, the world’s largest ski area. #Courchevel #FrenchAlps #Aerial #VueAérienne

John Constable painted this landscape in 1816 almost 150 years before a university was dropped into the middle of it. Essex opened here in 1964, its radical concrete campus deliberately concentrated in the valley to preserve Wivenhoe Park around it #WeAreEssex #Colchester #Essex

Castle Ashby’s roof collapsed twice — in 1771 and again in 1884 ... yet this great Elizabethan house survived both rebuilds. Begun in 1574 for the Compton family, it later gained gardens and parkland shaped by Capability Brown. #CastleAshby #Northamptonshire #AerialPhotography

44 homes have been lost or demolished at Hemsby in just the past decade: 7 in 2018, 11 in 2023 and 26 more over the winter of 2025–26. This summer view shows what remains behind one of England’s most rapidly retreating coastlines. #Hemsby #Norfolk #Coast #AerialPhotography

Leicester chose its Town Hall architect by voting for the designs they liked least - the one with the fewest rejection votes won. F.J. Hames’s building opened in 1876, complete with council chamber, law courts, police cells & accommodation for 30 lamplighters. #Leicester #Aerial

It took 1.25 million bricks and 142 tons of iron to build this Victorian water tower. Colchester’s 33m-high “Jumbo” opened in 1883 and held 230,000 gallons. Now a £10m+ restoration is turning it into a visitor attraction, restaurant and events venue. #Colchester #Essex #Aerial

This tiny Essex chapel was built around AD 654 using stone and bricks robbed from a Roman fort. St Peter-on-the-Wall at Bradwell is one of England’s oldest surviving churches ... and for centuries it was used as a barn before being restored in 1920. #Essex #Bradwell #Aerial

This extraordinary roof helped point the way to the Crystal Palace. Chatham’s No. 4 Slip was built in 1847–48 with pioneering cast-iron framing, years before Britain’s great railway sheds. Today it houses 20 historic RNLI lifeboats. #Chatham #RNLI #PoleAerialPhotography

Helhoughton was a surprisingly substantial place 940 years ago - the Domesday Book records about 73 households, putting it in the larger 20% of settlements surveyed. Its name combines the Norse personal name Helgi with the Old English “tun”, or farmstead. #Norfolk #Helhoughton

Lowestoft had a grand plan: turn Norwich into a seaport. Lake Lothing was opened to the sea in 1831 and the New Cut followed in 1833. But the dream collapsed, the company went bust and, in 1847, the railway arrived to transform Lowestoft instead. #Lowestoft #Suffolk #Aerial

It’s on a different scale. Sizewell B is one reactor; Sizewell C will have two EPR reactors, each far larger, plus all the associated roads, earthworks, utilities and construction compounds. Much of it is temporary ... but there’s no denying the impact while it’s being built.
