I wonder how the lady is feeling who said quite seriously on national radio back in 2023 that because they, and she were elite she wouldn’t be watching them again until they were back in the Premier League.

Everton Football Club has today released its Annual Report and Accounts for the 2024/25 season, recording a club record turnover of £196.7m, an increase of £9.8m on the previous year, and a significantly reduced loss of £8.6m for the financial period.

Much of what was going on seemed to not surprisingly go over the heads of sports journalists. People with your background will help a lot Chris.

Very much doubt we’re going to make a loss on the accounts for this season which we won’t know about until early 2027. The last season at Goodison I’m sure had a large loss before it was reduced by selling the Women’s Team. Those accounts should be out soon which is maybe what he means.

Our last 10 games see us as one of the form teams and in more than half those games we’ve played one of the other form teams!

I agree, the CEO has overseen a series of PR failures over the years and the Chair has been anonymous which brings into question their competence.

The process that resulted in Chelsea’s tap on the wrist looks more questionable the closer one looks at it. I can’t help thinking there’s politics at play here and a precedent has been set that Man City will aim to exploit. Should the Regulator force the PL to publicly explain their actions ?

CIES Football Observatory ranked clubs squad value according to their own statistical model. These are the PL clubs whose values are greater than ours.

A Sunderland fan asked me where he could get a half & half scarf yesterday. I told him not to do it. He said he wouldn’t normally but has a such respect for us and was so made up to be coming to HDS for the first time, he wanted to mark the occasion 💙 Best fans we’ve had here by far 🐈‍⬛

The more revenue a club has the more it can spend on players without breaching the rules. Our revenues should increase significantly due to the new stadium and if we keep control of our costs this should be good for us.

An excellent, honest piece from @john-b58.bsky.social highlighting outstanding stadium issues. Valid comments from @patricridge.bsky.social too: outsourcing large elements of service provision don’t absolve the Club of responsibility for the quality of that service. open.substack.com/pub/mtag/p/b...

The first non-footballing event at Hill Dickinson Stadium proved a success, albeit with some major drawbacks that must be addressed quickly by Everton.

There’s no law that needs to be changed, because it is not stated in any law. It is a requirement imposed at its sole discretion by the SGSA and the law allows them to amend the guidance as they see fit. See point B3 here: sgsa.org.uk/document/lic...

The CEO has said we don’t bring in anyone the manager doesn’t want.

130

Yep, let’s hope that’s the last inevitable action of this game after a load of added time is announced.

000

No idea Dave, I’ve only watched the second half and as I heard it his first mention was being subbed. The CL game was always their easiest this week.

Yeah saw that too, seemed lucky to get away with that.

000

Didn’t know Wirtz was playing until he was subbed.

Then Brentford get a controversial 🤔penalty to make it 3-1

030

Indeed. It wouldn’t surprise me if Henderson went to Ajax for tax purposes by the way.

Isn’t he rumoured to be earning £400k/week ? Still a huge sum post tax but yeah, Tuchel would be more interested if he was playing in the CL.

Toney will be liable for personal tax on his income from Saudi Arabia, and anywhere else for that matter if he’s remained a UK resident. Generally he’d have to stay out the country (there’s details to this) for a whole tax year for his Saudi income to be ‘tax free’ and for him that mean April 2026
