It wasn't! This was a 16 bit home computer. I learned how to make pixel art on it. 16 displayable colors out of a palette of 512, with a resolution of 320x240. Good times. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atari_ST

Found one of the first Hi-Res (640x480) #pixelart piece I did on PC, circa 1997 (after my Atari ST time). No scanner or graphic tablet yet, & digital cameras weren't around. 16 gray palette, mouse-placed pixels, using this amazing drawing of Gally (Alita) by Yukito Kishiro as a reference.
