Crow’s Nest view at the Pink Crow Cafe. Most recent prior incarnation of this old house was Red House, prior to that Yukiko’s, I can’t remember if there was another between those or before those. Lovely spot for a coffee when I need to be out of my own four walls.

A cake of yarn is half in the frame, sitting on top of an opened knitting pattern. A circluar needle with the tips of two sock toes cast on is lying diagonally through the centre of the frame, on top of the pattern and beside the yarn.

The yarn is from Blue Moon Fiber Arts, a Rockin' Sock Club installment from 2015. The owner/dyer of BMFA, Tina Newton passed away in June and I loved her yarns and colours - she was part of the reason I became a sock nut. Another part of the reason is the pattern designer, Cat Bordhi, who passed away a few years ago. The pattern was also from the Rockin' Sock Club, but a 2011 installment.

Learning some marquetry basics at a #hillside workshop.
The “puzzle pieces” for the Hillside Dancer logo, ready to insert into the frame of a tiny marquetry piece. The logo is a green hill, a yellow sun, and a blue bird flying from the grassy hill put to the sun, so that the 3 elements assemble into a stylized dancing figure. The logo was an art submission for thannualmposter in the 1990s and was so iconically “hillside” it was permanently adopted.

Hey local-to-me ppl - anyone else seeing something busted about the City of Kitchener's web site? Is Kitchener on any of our fediverse TLs? I'm getting the home page loading "greyed out" and entirely inoperable for me, same result across multiple cache-clearings and reloads in 3 different browsers.
A rather strange manifestation of the municipal government home page for the City of Kitchener. Whole home page loads like an inactive control with a weird update up front.
