I wouldn't be at all surprised to learn that the "best minds" in silicon valley are hard at work thinking about how else AI can be employed to stop children from being distractions to workers.

Maybe it's a joke but there's a cottage industry in the bay to get parents out of parenting and put them back to work. Ex. tech companies distribute SNOO bassinets to new parents that automate rocking when babies cry, and many pay for night doulas. They view parenting as a threat to efficiency

Paired with the guy who uses it to play fantasy football, and the many cases of people having it read books for them, you cant tell me that AI's real purpose is not to turn people into working machines by making all other leisure and familial responsibilities obsolete

This is so goddamn depressing. But also, these guys sell AI as an efficiency tool that creates time for the stuff that matters and that we like to do. What on Earth is this guy doing if not reading to his kid?

They've also attempted to redefine what constitutes eligible employment based on shady politically motivated criteria. If you don't think they'll do the same to decide which programs are eligible for loans in the first place, you're being naive.

The buyback program is a joke, with a massive backlog, wait times for reconsideration requests taking >2 years, and zero transparency. Studentaid.gov has stopped counting payments altogether, and seemingly stopped accepting new applications that include payments after July 2026.

This is a terrible take. Changing what programs are eligible for aid is a footnote in Trump's overall student loan policy, which is deeply cruel. The dept of ed has messed with payment plans, causing skyrocketing monthly payments. They also chose to basically stop administrating pslf (illegally).

I grew up two blocks from the stadium. My parents have lived there since the 70s We and everyone we know who's been there longer than a few years loves the stadium and is stoked for the energy it's going to bring to the neighborhood It's so weird to live by something so cool and not like it

Not all of us remain skeptical. I'd say those skeptical are a vocal minority. Otherwise perhaps mayor Biss wouldn't have won easily against Boarini?

Man this is a good point. If the blue wave hits like we expect, it'll be fascinating to see how Republican elected officials talk during the last two years of his presidency

True story, my wife and I watched this while at home from the hospital after she had been induced but before she went into labor. Maybe a bottom 1st percentile thing to watch in that situation

I'm trying hard to imagine what a person could possibly mean by this. Is it just in the narrow "conspiracy theory that their not dead" sense?

As a parent with two kids under six. I'd be extremely down for more adults-only spaces, if there were also more explicitly kid-friendly places. I think people would be surprised at how few of those there actually are

The fuck are you talking about "others spaces" if someone walks into your house with a coffee are you slapping it out of their hands? When I interview people I want them to be comfortable, and themselves. If having a cup of coffee helps them do it, good.

jog89.bsky.social @jog89.bsky.social · 25/09/2026
If you are interviewing with someone petty enough to care whether or not you have a coffee with you, then that's a great thing to learn.

Worried about both players when they return. Hamstring reaggravation is notoriously common. And it's hard not to see an injury like bregman's messing with his vision and timing until it's truly completely healed

Totally true if you ignore every single war started this century, tariff policy, the destruction of USAID, the unraveling of virtually every strategic alliance we had, and the entire diplomatic infrastructure at the state department.

Well, most Americans are capitalists. But still its a ridiculous, reductive way to compare parties. Across issues. Healthcare, immigration, foreign wars, foreign aid, tech oversight, environmental protection... The parties are wildly different. Pretending otherwise is a capitulation to trumpism.

jog89.bsky.social @jog89.bsky.social · 21/09/2026
Why do you think this is conclusive of anything? A very narrow band of security contractors donates to candidates from both parties. The parties govern wildly differently.

jog89.bsky.social @jog89.bsky.social · 13/09/2026
This is a phenomenal argument for voting for Democrats though? The failure of the anti-fascist public to rally around the flawed but obviously superior SDP in the Weimar Republic, literally made a lane for Hitler to take power

It's not that easy though. The work of USAID takes decades to build trust. We've burned so many bridges, and lost so much institutional knowledge. You can hire back some US staff, but local staff and implementing partners might be hesitant to come back into the fold after being discarded.

I guess you don't have to worry about ICE snatching up members of your family. The privileged move is not voting for the person who can help restrain trump. You'd only do that if you are insulated from his disastrous policy. And James Talarico is threatening no one's "right to exist"

Even if you accept they are the same on trans policy (absurd, of course they aren't). How can people be willing to let the guy win who will give carte blanche to Trump on Iran, ICE, Tariffs, healthcare We just saw this in Michigan 2 years ago! Purity tests make everything worse for everyone!

I'm done engaging with you. Everyone who doesn't share your precise theory of change is a Neo-Nazi. Good luck building that coalition. I'll continue to vote for Democrats because it's by far the best path to protecting my trans and immigrant family members. Bye.

I'll admit I didn't know about the ban on reaffirming care. That's worse than I understood. It sucks. Spineless policy. I still think that refusal to vote for Talarico, undeniably the best politician with an actual chance to win in texas since the 80s is foolish. And calling him a Nazi is nonsense.
