Spent yesterday in Manchester for the first time for the Undertale Determination Symphony, I'm not the most extensive UT fan but it was so enthralling to listen back through the soundtrack with such energy and clearness ✨

"Every Miku is canon" is a mantra I wanna rip out of everybody's hands desperately, because as a phrase it's so mindlessly devoid of context that everyone reads it literally all the while learning nothing about how vocalsynth prosumption works.

Revisiting each Kingdom Hearts game slowly and individually has been really enlightening because I think the thing that was giving me the ick initially with the HD collections was the way it felt like Square was contributing to the 'means to an end' homework culture of the series.

Had a delightful time today at King's College London for the Vocal Synth Symposium, every talk was so fascinating and filled with various perspectives. It was wonderful chatting and spending time with you all x

It may just be me being bad at video games but as someone who didn't touch Kingdom Hearts until the remastered collections I'm so curious where the "In KH you just spam X" gag came from because of how abundantly untrue it is

This game's like 15 years old and I've only now beaten a permadeath run all is okay in the world

Joey | Cutlery🍴 @joezcafe.bsky.social · 09/08/2026

I know I'm the only person on planet earth who still plays ZOMBIU/ZOMBI but I was 2 hrs in on a permadeath run, cleared St George's, got all the Dee letters then on the way back to the safe house fell through the world which triggered the game to kill me and save the run.

Joy's been with us for almost a week now, she's still a little bug hiding in all the nooks and crannies but is making oodles of progress. My favourite habit of hers is when she wanders the house at night, to which she'll sit on a windowsill and meow at everything she sees.

I've been basically counteracting the stress of the move by playing comfort games that are instant dopamine dispensers, so as such I've beaten We Love Katamari again, resubbed to XIV, doing survival runs on ZOMBI and occasionally breaking it up with OW to take myself down a peg.

040

Joey | Cutlery🍴 @joezcafe.bsky.social · 03/08/2026

One big change on my current round of XIV is I've been playing with a controller and I'm so impressed with how functional this system is, understandably so as the game launched on PS3. There's virtually nothing you miss by not playing with a keyboard and mouse.

Found this kicking around in my hard drive. About 2 years ago, I tried arranging for the first time by making a full cover of Andante by kz. I might finish it someday, I like the kinda "Past the Stargazing Season" vibe I had going on, but a lot of the process was winging it.

Saying this to my partner the other day, it's wild when fans of OW's 6v6 format go "What happened to make everyone hate 6v6?" as if the consensus during OW1's final year before OW2 wasn't "This game has completely fallen apart and needs to be reworked in order to be fun again".

The emulation community's hateboner for RPCS3 begins to make sense when you realise their standard is whether or not games can run in 108060 with enhancements and not "Can this PS3 game run like it did on the PS3 which is Not Very Well"

With the news surrounding Maghni, it's a misstep from those at VT to leave the consumer out of the conversation when responding to their mismanagement. I wish nothing but the best for the software and its team, but it's undeniable that the powers-that-be have sabotaged it.

I think on reflection, the thing that's bothered me with the response to the PlayStation disc news is that the writing was on the wall around 2020ish, hence why I never really bothered with Gen9 other than getting a Series S exclusively for Game Pass and F2P games.
