I guess they’re going to revive the insipid “attorney vs lawyer” debate to try to rehab this nonsense.

I've got "Rock and Roll McDonalds" on a playlist with a ton of random stuff. About once a month it comes on and it makes me laugh every single time. What a legend.

The Icelandic Phallological Museum (i.e. the penis museum). Stay with me on this, but it was incredibly cool. Tongue in cheek but also super educational and just a blast.

Every one of these stories is an American horrorshow. "HEARTWARMING: 8-year old works 3 hours a day to pay off school lunch debt."

Much as I enjoy Taylor Swift, and I do, there's something really enjoyable about just listening to CRJ and vibing without feeling the spectre of a massive industry machine looking over my shoulder.

Just a fundamental unwillingness to see what is happening in their country, and the reaction elsewhere as a result. Most of this type of commentary feels like people watching a TV show. Why worry, the villain will be stopped by the end of the hour and they'll all go to the malt shoppe after.

Canada has a hybrid legislative requirement and Constitutional convention (i.e. an unwritten rule/policy arising from our Constitution) requiring regional/provincial representation on the Supreme Court of Canada. A much better approach than "an Ivy League judge with favourable politics".

Damage was done already, but this is more confirmation: America isn't like this because he is President; he is President because America is like this. A plurality of Americans want this. We don't have a friend in America anymore, and flipping the House/Senate/White House ain't fixing that.

Totally agree. Meg's drumming was quite literally the soul of the White Stripes. Pretty sure Jack has said that many times over. I love Jack White, both his solo stuff, the Raconteurs, etc etc. But the White Stripes were special largely because of Meg's style.

I’ve been going through a similar journey myself. Though I remain of the view that such oaths are constitutional (saved by Section 1). Now, whether they are necessary to become a lawyer, that’s another story.

Do yourself a favour: if you're inclined to watch a Sam Neill movie that's a little off the beaten path, watch "In the Mouth of Madness". It's the 3rd in John Carpenter's "Apocalypse Trilogy", and Neill is truly a revelation.

Why the wait? Delays in disclosure of evidence repeatedly flagged in N.L. Jordan cases | CBC News
An analysis of cases impacted by R. v. Jordan shows that one of the driving factors is the delay in handing over disclosure — evidence in the case — to the defence.

I don't understand why we're persisting in calling SCC appointees "nominations". There's no nomination process, nor confirmation process. The government announces who it will appoint. Period. So Justice Joyal is not a 'nominee', he is simply the person the government intends to appoint.
