Probably not. Unlike 1973 (just after I got my driver's license) gas prices aren't regulated today. So the market will do what markets do to cut demand. That said, there will be a lot of pain. And maybe carpooling. And less driving for those who can.

I agree with you but wasn’t certain. I had no rooting interest in the game, though I do enjoy upsets. I’m trying to understand where the extra second came from and “hidden” tenths of a second was the only reasonable one. But I agree that 0:00 means just that. Game over.

Is it possible this was some tenth of a second nonsense? Didn’t that happen in the NBA or NCAA where they eventually added tenths of seconds to the clock display because 0:00 wasn’t really game over? Someone needs to explain this, because that clock clearly showed 0:00.

This reminds me of the 1972 Olympic basketball game where the refs kept giving the USSR three seconds until they finally beat USA. Where did one second come from? Clock showed 0:00. Or was this some tenth of a second nonsense?
