I've spent a bit of time playing with Fable 5 on the train home this evening. Early indicators are that it's a really, really good model. Need more time to experiment with this.

I tried to get a decision signed off recently. I failed. There are always loads of reasons to say no. The real question is, what do we need to say yes? I never gave them that. Three minutes: joestead.codes/posts/everyo...

A memory leak on a missile was never a problem, and what that taught me about giving stakeholders the one fact that makes a decision decidable

I'm sure a lot of you, like me, have watched your coding agent grep its way around your codebase, burning tokens it actually needed for the real problem. Turns out there's a tidy fix, courtesy of @jetbrains.com , what do you think? joestead.codes/posts/jetbra...

Stop letting your AI agent grep its way around your codebase
How wiring the JetBrains MCP server into Claude Code gives your agent proper code navigation and refactoring, and stops it burning tokens reading half your repo

It's May. I can't believe Starmer would do this to us.

I've recently had to use MS Teams, so here's my regular gripe. MS Teams creates silos, not collaborative work. It's an awful platform and does not facilitate an effective, collaborative, online work space.

The iRobot/Roomba customer support is possibly the worst in the world. On the one hand, I love having these robot vacuums/mops to clean up after my dog that sheds hair constantly. On the other hand, I wish I went with a competitor of theres. Absolute joke

I agree with Grady with this, but the editing is infuriating.

This is worth a blog post / detailed follow up. If legal say no, this is worth a long chat in a pub about absolutely nothing related to it one day

Is that it?

I think when the AI bubble inevitably pops, this will become the future of AI tooling, there's no way the true cost of running this will be paid for by the consumers

I would love for them to go into more detail on the hosting model they describe that was compromised, was it literally a VPS like what I used to get for dirt cheap in 2005 to host my websites on?

Well I think the typical Irish American thing is a bit nonsense and in the literal sense you fit both of those words better. I am deeply sorry for the offence I have caused here

I genuinely think SQL might be the best bit of technology ever. I'm not very good at it, but it just works, for so many things, and if it doesn't work, it's probably because you're wrong

Serena worked really well, but what was even better was the JetBrains MCP Server. www.jetbrains.com/help/webstor... There's the equivalent for all of their other IDEs too. This is a game changer

The more you pay, the better wine you get. This might sound obvious enough, but considering the cost of packaging, logistics, VAT, total margins and excise duty, you get considerably more bang for you...

I think that becomes one for lawyers and courts. I think it's reasonable consumers assume that their policies and agreements with you, the customer are reflected accurately. I understand that scepticism of course though

I'm not part of those conversations, but I know most clients actively ask about how we use AI

That's going to vary on every individual case, so I can't possibly answer that definitively

Time to try and connect it to Serena (github.com/oraios/serena) to see if I can improve the analysis of the code significantly. It would be really cool if we could hook into the IntelliJ backend(s) to use their analysis/navigation/refactoring tooling in things like this
