The Beths announced a couple of last-minute shows in New York and LA to celebrate the release of their new album, Straight Line Was a Lie (out now!). The New York show took place this past Monday at Bowery Ballroom and it was excellent. Surprisingly, it was my first ever time seeing them live.

A week after the release of her debut solo album, Parody of Pleasure, Lydia Night played a triumphant headlining set at Baby’s All Right. The crowd in attendance was loud, sang along passionately, and even started moshing at Lydia’s request.

There is nothing more anxiety-inducing than having Sharon Van Etten hold your hand while she’s singing “Seventeen” and not knowing what to do with yourself.

Caught the early show at Baby’s All Right yesterday, where Alessi Rose headlined a sold out show at the venue for a second straight night. The fans in attendance were loud, passionate, and seemed to know all of her lyrics.

Having seen Lucy Dacus perform in venues like Baby’s All Right and Mercury Lounge, it was pretty surreal to see her headline Radio City Music Hall last night. It was also a genuine surprise to witness Hozier come out to perform the Forever is a Feeling track "Bullseye" live with Lucy.

I trekked out to Brooklyn Steel last night to photograph The Linda Lindas for @weallwantsomeone.bsky.social last night. It was really cool to see how much their music connected with the young audience in attendance. I even saw literal children joining in a circle pit.

Spent my Monday evening seeing the sister duo Sarah Julia at Baby’s All Right. Their harmonies were exquisite and their fanbase was surprisingly dedicated. It’s not often that I see a line forming outside Baby’s well before the front bar opens.

Saw Japanese Breakfast perform "A Melancholy Recital" at El Museo del Barrio last night. The music, suffice to say, was beautiful but the presentation of the performance as a whole was beyond my expectations. It was a wonderful way to celebrate the release of the new album.

I feel like Joe's Pub was the perfect venue for Basia Bulat last night. The show was intimate and captivating. It truly was a joy to have been present in that room. I can't believe that it's been nearly nine years since her last show in New York.

Getting to see Japanese Breakfast perform acoustic interpretations of songs from For Melancholy Brunettes (and Sad Women) days before the album’s release truly was a pleasure. The interview between Michelle and Arooj Aftab before the performance was also delightfully entertaining.
