Bye Bye Fediverse Und als absolute Krönung, werden im Gegensatz zum DSA kleine Plattformen wie Mastodon oder F-Droid nicht verschont. Milliardenkonzerne wie Meta, Google und Apple haben demnach die selben Auflagen zu erfüllen wie kleine, europäische Anbieter. Wikipedia und Codeberg kriegen ihre Ausnahme, ein dezentrales Netzwerk wie Mastodon nicht, obwohl es genauso offen und ehrenamtlich betrieben ist. Das heißt Altersverifikation für jede einzelne Instanz und jeden Software-Marktplatz, mit der ganzen bürokratischen Wucht, die daran hängt. Ein Mastodon-Server mit ein paar hundert Nutzer:innen kann sich diese Infrastruktur schlicht nicht leisten, ein Meta oder TikTok zahlt sie aus der Portokasse. Den kleineren bleibt dann nur Dichtmachen oder Jugendliche aus den datenschutzfreundlichen, offenen Teilen des Internets rauszuwerfen. Am Ende werden nur die größten Big-Tech-Konzerne Bestand haben, während Alternativen verschwinden. Das Fediverse stirbt so nicht an mangelnder Nachfrage, sondern an einem Gesetz, das Kinderschutz verspricht und die einzigen Räume killt, die eine echte Alternative zu Big Tech wären.
