You can find token plans here: platform.xiaomimimo.com/token-plan I use the smallest, Lite, yearly pkg. 49B credits (1 cred = 1 token @ MiMo v2.6 Flash; 2 creds = 1 token @ MiMo v1.6 Pro). I use Flash for pretty much everything, TBH, I didn’t find the Pro version so Pro, the diff is negligible.

Hey @antirez.bsky.social, I’ve been a happy user of MiMo for a while, and I’d recommend. The ROI over its token plans are unbeatable. Have a try and see for yourself. mimo.xiaomi.com

Hey. If you need to tell your model to ask permissions before doing anything you already lost. This is a concern for your coding agent, not smt the AI model can/should be able to decide about. It’d be wise to adjust the coding agent trust level of the project to have this security layer.

I don’t really believe AI will be capable of this. It would, if big techs didn’t hold SO MUCH POWER in their grasp, so strong they could raise wars over control, natural resources, etc. In fact, I believe we’ll see global wars over power and control pretty soon, way beyond scales we got today.

Then, I did set up Linuxbrew over it. For the rare cases I don't find smt in CachyOS' repos, Linuxbrew will be there. I gotta say: the DX has been VERY good! I am finally satisfied with a desktop Linux experience. Who would think 2026 would be The Year of Linux Desktop? Well, it is for me.

Back in AcerOS (aka: a rebranded Ubuntu), I had moments of total fury when dealing with APT shenanigans to keep system up to date. In CachyOS, it has multiple pkg repos – one CachyOS-specific, with these CPU-optimized pkgs, and normal "Arch Linux" pkgs repos. There's everything in there! 🤩

Oh – I also been spinning containers and VMs with Podman Compose, and so far the Acer laptop didn't sweat on any of this. I gotta give kudos to Brave browser here, it's really impressive and performant, but overall CachyOS is indeed fckn performant. AND, this Arch Linux ecosystem is quite decent. 👌

I also do type VERY FAST, use lots of kb shortcuts, open links/etc. on new tabs like I had 1TB RAM, keep multiple VS Code windows on multiple Git worktrees open – and the laptop keep up with it all. I am not an ordinary desktop user and I know I demand a lot from the hardware/OS. I am impressed.

I finally installed this on my Acer laptop (I initially had it installed on a refurbished laptop I still have), and I been using this for a couple of months. Heavy use! Multiple windows of Brave browser with 20-30 tabs each (ADHD, you know), Slack, Telegram, WhatsApp (ZapZap app) + LOTS of agents!

It HAS the feature I was looking for! It comes with a setup of snapper over the btrfs. Perfect! Absolute cinema! So I got: raw performance (pkgs optimized for my CPU), a first-class btrfs support I can leverage, automatic snapshots whenever I touch system packages... It's a HUGE WIN!

I didn't like the name (still don't), but then it had this appealing thing of "performance-first", with pkgs optimized for specific CPU architectures. 🤔 Worth a try. I have other, way less powerful laptops, so I was testing CachyOS to see if it worked for them. It did. But then, I discovered smt,

So, I came in pursuit of smt new. Initially, I was looking for some transactional OS – there are some projects with interesting ideas over OS recoverability I'd like to adopt. Fedora Silverblue and OpenSUSE Tumbleweed were ones I was really looking at. But then, I found this CachyOS thing. Weird.

{:ok, "Joel Jucá"} @joeljuca.com · 05/09/2026
GOSH! It's so terrible. NOTHING you want is really there to use. The pkgs available are often super-outdated, "in the name of stability" or smt, and you end up struggling with installing additional pkg managers over the OS one to have things working. (I really like and recommend Linuxbrew, btw.)

It's capable of running some small models (4B ones with 50+ tps, 8B+ ones super-slow, but still running), and for 1K-ish USD in Brazil I thought it's quite a deal. But the UX of this AcerOS was *absolutely fckn terrible!* IMHO, the APT pkg manager from Debian/Ubuntu ecosystems is just NOT-usable.

It's an Acer laptop. CPU is an 8-cores/16-hyperthreads AMD Ryzen™ 7 7735HS, 16GB RAM DDR5 (expandable to 32GB), a 6GB VRAM RTX4050, and a decent 512 GB SSD NVMe PCIe 4.0. Came with an Ubuntu 25.04-based AcerOS which is pure trash! I hated so much I almost sold the laptop to buy another MacBook Pro.

I'm back to desktop Linux after 10+ years using Apple OSes. macOS is aweome indeed – the MacBook-iPhone integration is unmatched by anything else. But, my experience with a powerful 1K-ish USD laptop running CachyOS has been absolutely amazing! I am *very impressed* with CachyOS / Arch ecosystem.

s/mandarin/chinese/ FYI, using “Chinese” is the adequate way to refer to the language spoken in China. “Mandarin” used to be a political rank, whose people spoke Chinese properly, “by the book”, while the streets used dialects (non-educated). The “language of mandarins” became Mandarin.

TIL I can `git diff -U9999` to visualize editing files in full, instead of seeing only the specific parts where it has changed. Useful to see changes along the whole file to really understand how your changes are affecting the file itself. I needed this just now to reason on my changes to my .zshrc

I guess you’d like to hear the new initiative from the Open Source: bootstrapable software. In a nutshell: a build system that pulls everything from source — compilers, tools, etc., everything to compile and build software from bare scratch. Controvertial ideas. Interesting tooling.

When I have these moments and some random Joe says “just do it with AI” 😡 all I think of is how much brainrot this person is suffering. The AI companies made such incredible marketing around their products that people believed it’s all magic.

2:14 am and I was on my laptop, tackling the challenge of performing automated core reviews with AI: the pi agent running on a GitLab CI job with everything it needs to clone the repo, check the GitLab diff, then run a code review that includes, if it decides: web search, tool calling, etc. +

Oh, come on! You’re too early in the process of hating big techs 😂 You gotta spend some time researching alternatives. Every single big tech has alternatives, open source of not, etc — you gotta find them to be able to hate big techs properly. Eg: I been using HelloChinese. Works for Chinese. 😄

What I like the gpg approach the most is the UNIXy way of doing it. I came up with this idea ~2 months ago, tested some approaches and got a damn good [and secure] one to work with. Today I don’t see myself not doing this! The DX is really good.

direnv (direnv.net) does the magic of loading secrets in shell whenever I cd into my project dir to run some cmd that requires a secret. So, I can eg: spin my pi agent and have some API keys loaded right in time. And there’s Bitwarden Secrets Manager (the bws CLI) for the most sensitive API keys. 👌

Interesting solution. What I’m doing on my own projects is to add secrets to my Git repo 🙂 it’s quite convenient to `git clone` and have both my code and secrets in the place place. I `gpg —ecrypt -a …` with my private key into a .secrets/ dir, then I `API_KEY=$(gpg —decrypt …)` right from .envrc
