Yeah, you can't wear a hat in this house without getting SOME commentary.

I had to insist they quit yelling they didn't like/hated things and switch to "that's not my favorite".

The book that helped teach my kids to be jackasses. Like my effect on them wasn't enough, hahaha.

I'm being asked to choose between people who shout transphobic slurs and people who respond to being called transphobic slurs by shouting back that actually, they don't think trans people deserve rights, privacy, or dignity, either, thank you very much.

The right's answer to political divide - be nicer to me while I hurt people, pls. Also, you're evil and I hate you and you're next.

This post has been haunting me so much, it feels like it must be rage bait Reading to your kids is a special, singular experience you can’t get back. Educational for them in critical ways but also critical bonding time. It is…like…why are you even alive if you’re outsourcing this???

DO YOU LIKE MY HAT?

For one conspiracy second...could companies take advantage of "we won't copyright AI" which is technically a good thing...to say everything is AI now and issue no more copyrights so they can steal it all?

I do not have an artist's eye. I can follow a pattern and learn THAT but I can't just whip up a good wearable with mismatched yarn like some fiber artists can.

Jody Wallace @jodywallace.bsky.social · 07/10/2026
I get an equal amount of joy in using yarn that I already had but I've been into wearables lately and I rarely have enough of any one kind, and mix and match is tricky.
110
Jody Wallace @jodywallace.bsky.social · 07/10/2026
You need over 1000 yards for a lot of the good wearable projects.

Jody Wallace @jodywallace.bsky.social · 07/10/2026
The issue with my hoarding, as I am sure you will immediately understand, is that for a project larger than a hat, you need a lot of matching yarn in the same type/size/etc. And when you only buy one skein, well, you can't make a hexagon cardigan with one skein. Or a skein and a half.

I don't think you understand how MUCH yarn I have. Speaking of pictures. Let me add it to the list so you can be like 'holy FUCK Jody do you ever crochet anything or just hoard yarn' and like shut up i am crocheting 18 projects right now.

I actually think I have that exact maroon chenille I got at the thrift store. Just one, tho. Takes 2 to make a cat bed, per the patterns I read.

I want to try making a cat bed out of the really big fat chenille because I have zero need of blankets in my life. Or sweaters. Or hats. Or, often, socks.

That would be awesome. I also like waterfalls, but I don't like to hike a long way to see them or for there to be a lot of other people around, so we will want to get a helicopter for that part.

One time I read about a potato grown in Peru that is said to taste like it's already buttered, and I think I was in my teens when I read it, and I've been sad about not getting to eat every potato ever since. So 40 years of sadness.

I have been surprised at the wide variety of apples available after a youth of red or green and nothing else. Sadly, I know there are a lot of plant foods like apple that have a wide variety in reality and we just don't get to have them here.

Jody Wallace @jodywallace.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
On that note, I guess I need to cure myself of saying "have a great/nice day" because I think we read the same stuff and I can see it's not my best closer.

Jody Wallace @jodywallace.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
Oh noooo! Well, I like the sweet ones like Honey Crisp. We keep apples around because they stay good a long time, which suits our style, LOL. My sister prefers them cold and keeps them in fridge.

Then is your mission to talk someone who CAN do it into doing it? Heh. Some of us know we can't, so we talk other people into do it so we can participate at a lesser level.

I've gotten so burned out on the bullshit 'both sides' neutrality that I no longer trust anyone who claims to be neutral. Facts are neutral -- but not anymore, I guess.

I learned two important things today, or, should I say, I relearned them. One, don't try to drive places on the main road on a Saturday afternoon. Take the back roads. Two, do NOT forget your COFFEE. You will suffer withdrawals and feel like you have the flu the rest of the day.
