Every story today assumes Trump was the target of the attack at the WHCD last night (which I was at). That’s the most logical assumption. But a nagging part of my brain - the bit that deals daily with attacks on journalists - knows it’s not impossible the media might have been the target too.

So much of what we know about starvation in Gaza is because of reporting by Anas Al-Sharif. Israel targeted and killed him and his entire crew while they were in a press tent outside a hospital. I spoke with @jodieginsberg.bsky.social, head of the CPJ @pressfreedom.bsky.social for @slate.com.

Israel just targeted and killed an entire news crew. This is not "just what happens" to reporters in war. Israel has killed more journalists in the 22 months since October 7 '23 than were killed WORLDWIDE in the 3 years between '20 and '22. This is murdering the messenger. cpj.org/2025/08/isra...
