I can't seem to be able to message you. Can you see if you can try to message me? re: the teenage photographer who was shot with the pepper ball

The NZ accent had me thinking @thebeths.bsky.social were getting bitter when they were actually getting better. Big difference! Need to retune these American ears.

Good advice from the expert if you’re trying to raise money that doesn’t directly benefit you (for kids with cancer etc) but not if you’re trying to raise money to fund a business. I appreciate you pushing back on the cringiest of advice

Home repair, organization and deep cleaning. You’re about to spend a lot of time at home staring at a broken door handle or filthy baseboards or something and you won’t have the energy to do anything about it but it will drive you nuts.

I was having this conversation with my own mother, who said that "universities have a big pot of money they can use to make up for any cuts in federal funding" and also there are "plenty of private individuals who will step up and fund the research." It's like banging your head against a wall.

I've had experiences with older retired people in particular who only hear about AI from the news that think it can do anything now. I told someone my husband's job is he makes video games and they said, "Doesn't AI just do all that now?"

We did a few over spring break junior year, but for the most part we waited to tour until Senior year, when he started getting admissions offers. Touring schools he was never going to get into seemed a waste. And taking days off school second semester senior year...doesn't really matter.

If the question is not about Miette sending Mother to jail for 1000 years I don’t know what we’re doing here

Such good reporting. I got my husband hooked on it as well and talked my teens’ ears off about it

I don't post much (really at all) but every once in a while I get the urge to thank all the writers and creators who filled up my eyes and ears with stories

Henry, Henry @allenbratton.bsky.social I loved this modern day telling of the Henriad so much, but it works completely even if you take it out of that historical context

The Competition, @shimaoliaee.bsky.social I'm a sucker for a story about teenage girls, especially overachievers, and this one had so much to offer on all levels

My favorites of the year, Podcast edition. #1 Question Everything, Brian Reed. It just started, but every episode has been fascinating, asking and answering a lot of questions about journalism that I have also had.
