It’s amazing how off-putting and minimal even positive comments about Rahm are. Even his own claim to have a “history of winning”—how did those 2006 Dem Congressional recruits fare a few years later? How about your own mayoral record, where you didn’t run in 2019 because you’d have lost so badly?

I think the NYT top ten TV list is pretty good except take out Breaking Bad, bump The Wire to #1, put the egregiously underrated Deadwood in its place at #2, and move Atlanta to top five. Also the British version of The Office is obviously superior, I don't care if that's an annoying take to have.

This is correct - personal experiences of needing social services makes people, including policymakers, more opposed to imposing administrative burdens (which is how they are breaking SNAP and Medicaid) academic.oup.com/jpart/articl...
• When a policymaker has personal, firsthand experience navigating a welfare system or public service, their tolerance for administrative burden significantly drops. © Oxford Academic
• Conversely, policymakers without personal experience are much more likely to tolerate or actively support high administrative burdens, often driven by political ideology or a perception that the target population is "undeserving".

The fact that there are thousands of people with interesting ideas graduating into an academic labor market every year with no room for them, and someone with tenure at Chicago— buffeted from the vicissitudes of that landscape— is using their perch to voluntarily work in the AI slop mines is unreal.

Any involvement of GenAI in this process would have warped our ability to really figure out what I wanted to say and needed to say in order to get my actual perspective onto the page. I had to do all the reading. I had to do all the writing. I had to be the one to discuss it. He had to know me.

I finished the first draft of my third book, The Cosmos is a Black Aesthetic, in January. And I had to let it simmer and get some feedback. And I am ready to push through a major revision and I'm looking at some of the work that needs to be done and it would be **IMPOSSIBLE** with GenAI involvement.

I know Pep is exhausted and taking a break, but if he wanted to be a legendary hater to anti-football, he should just be a free agent for the rest of the league this season. Every team gets Pep for their two games against Arsenal, and he just spends 38 games tormenting Arteta.

Wow, look at Hayley Williams’ set from Newport Folk Fest tonight. Karly Hartzman from Wednesday, Nate Amos from This is Lorelei, Jenny Lewis, Lucy Dacus. This is so well-curated I’m even willing to look past the unfortunate inclusion of Jack Antonoff, the bane of pop music for the past 15 years.

If Mbappe ends up with the record after this WC because Messi had to play against Spain’s defense and Mbappe got to play against whatever this is, it’s going to be hilarious. Like, he was going to get it next WC anyway, but this would be a very funny way for it to happen.
